Deporting illegals who have committed crimes
Ok, I read on the general discussion board that Hillary has said she would send illegals who have commited crimes back to their home country. I agree with her on this. I think that those who come here to "work", and better their lives, and the lives of their spouse and children, deserve a chance to do so. Get in the system, pay fines, and get in the back of the line. Those who are here just to commit crimes, and not work, need to be deported in my opinion. Also anyone who is working to be legal and commits a felony needs to be removed from the list and deported, again my opinion.

Where does Obama stand on this issue?

1. I'm confused because I've read some statements that say without trial
and some that say after conviction.

3. Not sure
I think that if they already have a criminal record, here or in their home country that's what the part about without a trial means, those who have no record would be given a trial, but I am only going by what I have heard others say.

4. What she means is,
if they are convicted of a crime, and are here in the country illegally, they would be automatically deported without a specific deportation trial following their criminal conviction.

2. Generally Speaking
Note: This is not a defense or critique of Obama's position.

The problem with automatic deportation is that under the current system, immigrants, both illegal and legal, lack of knowledge of American and international law is exploited by INS and attorneys general to coerce confessions or to gain acquiesance to deportation. In many cases, the accused immigrants are not given access to their attorneys or families. Rights normally enjoyed in the legal system are denied to them. There are serious questions about the validity of such convictions. Moreover, they are often denied normal oversights that are usually present in other prisons. Abuse cases occur at a much higher frequency.

6. Do you know Obama's postion?
I know that last year when they were trying to come up with a bill on immigration, some wanted to allow gang members to stay in the country if they "said" they would stop that way of life. I find that really hard to believe.
