Why Hillary Should Wait Her Turn: "This hasn't been a long-term struggle yet."
Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 01:28 PM by CorpGovActivist
Hillary Rodham Clinton said of gay marriage equality that - compared to the Civil Rights Movement (which, apparently she views as a separate issue) - "this has not been a long-term struggle yet."

The statement was videotaped, folks, and she knew she was on camera. The http://visiblevote08.logoonline.com/">VisibleVote site contains a great deal of information on the candidates' respective LGBT stances, including clips of http://visiblevote08.logoonline.com/2007/08/09/video-barack-obama-rewind/">Obama's appearance and http://visiblevote08.logoonline.com/2007/08/10/video-hillary-clinton-rewind/">Clinton's.

Interestingly, http://www.gaycitynews.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=19249408&BRD=2729&PAG=461&dept_id=568864&rfi=6">Hillary's hometown gay paper endorsed Obama, which is http://www.gaycitynews.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=19249408&BRD=2729&PAG=461&dept_id=568864&rfi=6">front page news on the VisibleVote site today.

Applying Hillary Rodham Clinton's logic - such as it is - the African-American "first" should precede the (wrong) woman "first," as (relatively speaking), women's equality "has not been a long-term struggle yet."

She's not the only one who can split hairs.

P.S. The one nice thing about sitting at the back of the bus? You can see where everyone else is sitting, and Hillary's only a few seats ahead of those of us in the LGBT community that she's consigned to the "prepare to be backed over by the bus" seat.
