They're spinning us about McCain being hated by the right |
|
and they're doing it to make him more acceptable to the independents. The independents are more likely to vote for someone the right is supposedly against. But have you thought about who is pushing this meme? Limbaugh and Tucker. Neither of them do anything for honest motives.
He may not be the favorite of the right, but on all the issues they really care about (especially Iraq and taxes) he has flip flopped to their side. They will all support him, all the while trying to make it seem like he is a centrist.
In the meantime, the corporate media will insist on calling him a straight talker when he is anything but. All to appeal to the independents who don't really pay attention.

McCain is treated like a moderate and a maverick. The two words the press will shove down people's throats for the next year.

Which he'll win by picking a "traditional" GOP hardliner to "balance the ticket." Why would they hate McCain? He's a Bush clone extraordinaire.

because winning matters to them.
A message a few here might want to take to heart when they play their "If (name of their favorite candidate) doesn't get the nomination I won't vote for the other person" game.

I'll take your word for it. Unfortunately though, they are a tiny, tiny sliver of the electorate. I don't think this McCain hatred exists in the sane world.

10. No, they're not. They hate him. |

They see in him a traitorous wretch. They think he's a liberal in sheep's clothing.
White male news casters love him because, well, he's one of them. He's a kick-ass-take-names-straight-shootin'-war-hero-annoyed-by-the-crazy-Evangelicals-doesn't-mind-a-central-non-intrusive-central-government-cut-taxes-for-the-wealthy-possibly-pro-choicer-or-at-least-not-bat-sit-crazy-constitutional-amendment-pro-life-America-fuck-yeah-my-friends-blah-blah-blah-Republican.

17. You are correct. We are being lulled into accepting a belief that |
|
is not likely. That would cause people to put their guard down and not vote because it gives a false impression of reality. Kinda of like Tom Brady, of the NE Patriots, making everybody think he was injured and vulnerable when he walked around on the cast. :dem:

I just keep looking at the low-life rightwingers that are pushing this idea. They don't exactly score highly on the trust-o-meter.

22. This election is about the Supreme court ... |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 12:48 PM by JorgeTheGood
the right will come out in droves to vote for whoever is their candidate and probably strongly enough that losing a few independents won't matter much.
They know there will be 3 SCOTUS replacements in the next 4 years and if they get 3 more conservatives on the court (like Roberts and Alito) they will have absolute control of not only the court but of the executive and legislative branches.
Given a nearly 100% conservative court, the republicans, (as weak as they will be in both houses) will be able to take all legislation they don't agree with, to the SCOTUS and get it overturned. The same will apply to anything issued by the president (presumming a dem president) such as signing statements, executive orders, vetos and appointments.
This isn't tinfoil ... it's reality and to think the republicans won't back McCain is very foolish on the part of the dems (or anyone else).
Also keep in mind that Florida will have gay marriage on the ballot so there goes that state. Not a chance a dem will take it. Ohio appears to be trying to turn blue but that state too will remain red as will Indiana (guarantee this one) and probably Missouri and West Virginia and even Virginia. Therefore, the dems need to concentrate on what they will do to keep every one of the known blue states take some of those red states and not so much on who will be running on the republican ticket as that will be a moot point for the republican voters.
They will be in a 'take no prisoners' mode big time.
