Would there be any value in boycotting ugly thread starters?
I have little hope in calming down the heated or scornful OPs....but a lot of it is designed to incite riots and more often then not they are not even defended it just escaltes and escalates and gets us nowhere.

It does not convince anyone of anything.

We all need to come together ultimately. It's fine to disagree on policy.... it's fine to dispute polls....It is legitimate to argue about viability. but over half the posts on GU-D are ad hominen attacke on the other guys......it is far more tiring then instructive. I am all for sprited debate.... but I want it to be debate. I want to learn something I don't want to engage in a daily food fight.

ANd while posting crap is not against the DU rules.....if we put those that offend us the most on ignore....maybe they will get the idea that the rest of us value the community more than the fight.

No one side is responsible but there are about 20 posters who drive the other 500 of us up the wall...If we don't police ourselves it will not get better. And if this primary season last as long as it could.... nobody is going to want to come here withouth a flak jacket and our own molotov cocktails.

Now I know I have set off some bombs myself and I am sure I am on some ignore lists myself I probably deserve it... so I am not playing holier than thou. But if you seriously object to this thread than I would think you might want totake a look in the mirror before youcome back at me with an attack.

2. You can't organize internet posters
People are joining this site every day. Even if you get a thousand DUers behind you the newbies will kick the bad threads.

10. Yes, that's the metaphor that is commonly used
I don't like it nearly as much as "Nice Post, Hitler." Somehow I can't stop laughing every time I see it. I'm tempted to use it in the real world but I don't know anyone who would get it.

3. It's called "ignore" and it's quit valuable.
If enough people put the nasty ones on ignore, they won't be able to feed on the shit they stir.

7. Sounds good to me, Perky
We're always told not to feed the trolls. But as a poster said above, it's hard to organize posters -- proof being I'm always reading "Don't feed the trolls!"

And then there's always the snarky comment serving as an answer. Why does it remind me of teenage girls, I wonder? Because I've had to teach so many of them?

9. I really like the "un-recommend" feature that someone suggested
a while back. Kind of a way of making a collective statement that the majority of people do not support the loud and ugly actions of a few.?
peace~

17. oops, somehow missed your post before i posted
sorry.
Another idea: let people know how many people are ignoring them, then make an effort to send a clear message to those individuals whose behavior is really unacceptable.
Peace back at you.

15. How about a "Do Not Recommend" button
that would cancel out a "recommend"? I think you might get an organized movement behind that.
