Republican crack-up continues-Dobson won't support Mccain |
|
ROFL.
Statement from James Dobson. The right wing nuts are going crazy:
I'm deeply disappointed the Republican Party seems poised to select a nominee who did not support a Constitutional amendment to protect the institution of marriage, who voted for embryonic stem cell research to kill nascent human beings, who opposed tax cuts that ended the marriage penalty, and who has little regard for freedom of speech, who organized the Gang of 14 to preserve filibusters, and has a legendary temper and often uses foul and obscene language. "I am convinced Sen. McCain is not a conservative, and in fact, has gone out of his way to stick his thumb in the eyes of those who are. He has at times sounded more like a member of the other party. McCain actually considered leaving the GOP in 2001, and approached John Kerry about being Kerry's running mate in 2004. McCain also said publicly that Hillary Clinton would make a good president. Given these and many other concerns, a spoonful of sugar does not make the medicine go down. I cannot, and I will not vote for Sen. John McCain, as a matter of conscience. "But what a sad and melancholy decision this is for me and many other conservatives. Should John McCain capture the nomination as many assume, I believe this general election will offer the worst choices for president in my lifetime. I certainly can't vote for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama based on their virulently anti-family policy positions. If these are the nominees in November, I simply will not cast a ballot for president for the first time in my life. These decisions are my personal views and do not represent the organization with which I'm affiliated. They do reflect, however, my deeply held convictions about the institution of the family, about moral and spiritual beliefs, and about the welfare of our country."

1. Well, the "agents of intolerance" thing didn't sit well, apparently-- |
|
he must be unaware that McCain came groveling back to the Religious Right on his knees, begging for acceptance.

2. What are they going to do? |
|
They were used as the cover for everything in the last two elections from the false imagery of the righteousness of W to the excuse for mystery votes that popped up all over the country (Va. included) and now they are seeing that the are just as taken for granted as any other group by either party. What are they going to do????

Let those fiendish little bastards that follow Dobson's every command stay home in November!
There is no candidate among Repubs that can unite this fractured alliance this year, and I'm loving it!

4. All of a sudden he is giving us his personal views. What about your |
|
organization? Your lemmings that you so faithfully guided before? You make me puke.

5. well, I say good for him--seriously |
|
At least he's not suddenly scrambling, like so many other right-wingers are, to get behind McCain just because he's going to be the nominee. I don't agree with his principles, obviously, but I respect his decision to stand by them.

Lost your seat at the table and your key to the Executive Restroom eh? Not fun is it? BTW. "Rev", your beliefs are nuts and you have no principles, so whatever you say is irrelevant. Your followers are the very definition of "sheep".

8. Aw Jim. Take your disciples and go home. And by the way - why are |
|
Barack and Hillary "anti-family"? It seems that they haven't been dragged out of any bathrooms in handcuffs - maybe you should admonish your "base" and STFU.

10. This all stinks, I think it is their plan for this to happen |
|
This could be bad news for us come November, think about it. McCain is cast as the "maverick" anti-Republican, luring in independents, moderate Democrats and will still get most of the far-right vote as they show up to vote against Hillary or Obama, doesn't matter which one is nominated. A McCain nom is the worst possible news for us right now and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Rush, Glenn Beck, Hannity, Savage, the religious right or whoever you want to throw in there are all in on it because they know it is the only way to beat Hillary or Obama.
Huckabee or Romney damn sure can't beat them in a general so I think they are actually helping McCain by saying he isn't a "good" Republican, it will be close in November, that's for sure.

If their base stays home, it hurts their numbers. Not saying McCain can't win, just that turning off their base helps us in Nov.
