I'm Done With The Clinton Bashing, From Now Until The Nomination Is Decided
I will not utter one more negative word about Hillary Clinton.

I'm going to stay out of threads that bash her. I'm not going to start any anti-Hillary threads.

I'm just going to stick to praising and defending Obama from now until the nomination is decided.

I'm reached this decision because, frankly, I'm just tired.

I'm tired of repeating the same statements about her.

I'm tired of the circular arguments.

I'm tired of the "well, she did it too" arguments.

I'm tired of the immaturity.

I'm tired of the name-calling.

I'm tired of being tired.

.

I wish Hillary supporters the best of luck. I wish Hillary bashers bon voyage. I'm not joining you anymore.

I think now that we're past Super Tuesday, we're past the point where these arguments do any of us any good. We've all seen that both sides are entrenched and their positions are not going to change.

We've also seen, based on a lot of different calculations, that this nomination is not going to be decided before the convention.

I am NOT going to spend the next five months flinging poo at people.

I urge you to do the same.

Thank you.

2. And good for DU.
We face problems that are serious enough for people to elevate the level of discussion.

3. So any ideas on how to clean this place up?
We are shooting ourselves in the head here and it really scares me.

6. I've noticed two things:
More of the older, intelligent DUers who are frequent GD-P posters have begun to pick up some of the less attractive tactics -- from disorting the truth, to simply lying -- which I think is a result of their getting tired and frustrated. Also, a growing number of DUers who have tended to participate in other forums, but who understand that DU has the potential to be a positive resource, but is blowing it, are speaking up. So we have both the bad and good potentials struggling here.

I think if more DUers would have a mental image of Scout Finch watching the group discussions here, and would take more responsibility for what they post, we would be fine.

7. Scout Finch - what a great image!
I agree with you and I am going to go out of my way to commend those, like yourself, that are speaking up and taking a positive position on this. And I am going to go out of my way to post "reject" on threads that continue to damage us.

5. Good.
And good luck to you. I think the majority of us on both sides hate what's going on, but we're drowned out and our threads hijacked by those who would rather slam another candidate than put out the good word about their own.

8. I made that pledge to myself after the last debate.. then promptly
blew it when the crap started flinging in here again. But I'll take it with you again. I don't have the emotional energy to fight useless fights and MY candidate wouldn't like it, LOL.

I just wish more people from the SAME camps as the shitflingers would speak up. If some of the spammers realized they were not getting any attention, I think they'd stop.

10. Is legitimate criticism bashing? I always try to make the distinction
To criticize is one thing, to bash is another.

I think I can disagree with her policy or the way she conducts her campaign, and still be able to say so civilly.

That's all I ask from both sides, myself.

11. Good! I'm trying..
It's getting really old. I hope there are some who will continue to report what she and bill are up to, though..that's not bashing, is it?

12. Thats one mark in Obama's favor for this undecided Edwards supporter
because I'm sick as hell of the shit flinging between the dimwitted immature supporters of our two excellent candidates. My primary isn't until March 11th but I've had it up to HERE with this crap. My internet home for the last 6 years has become a middle-school cafeteria replete with cliques and all the other mindless inanity you expect from 12 year olds.

Thank you for showing an adult response.

I wonder just how many minds have been changed between Clinton and Obama by the shit shoveled in GD-P?

14. Amen! Recommended! I wish this were the prevailing feeling on DU.
I, too, am tired of it. And we still have SUCH a long way to travel before this chapter ends. This circular firing squad shit really does have to stop!

They're BOTH of great worth and merit.
They're BOTH good candidates.
They're BOTH ours, now and onward.
They BOTH have beneficial ideas and novel approaches.
They BOTH would be a VAST improvement, both for us and for EVERYBODY around the world who still has to deal with us in some way.
They BOTH inspire.
They BOTH speak to the constituencies of the disenfranchised.
They BOTH have a LOT to bring to the table.
They BOTH mean - we make history!

Let's just be damned grateful that our choices aren't the total dreck that the bad guys are stuck with!!! WE have a chance to change direction and bring some positivity to the nation - with EITHER of our candidates. All we get from any of the others is the guarantee of four-to-eight more years of the same shit that already has been proven not to work!!!

18. Excellent Magic Rat
I think all of us should think twice, maybe three times, before posting anything that at it's heart really is candidate bashing.

If anyone thinks I am unfairly being harsh to Obama (or Clinton to9 I guess) you can PM me about it as well as pointing it out in a post as a reply.

We have to ready ourselves to fight TOGHETHER for the ultimate Democratic nominee. Either Obama or Clinton will make a good and historic President for America.

20. Is all criticism the same as "bashing"?
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 11:58 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
Can a moderate and middle road be found? I don't approve of any of the bashing threads on either side that are empty of intelligent and reasoned criticism based on fact. But do we have to go to the other extreme and shut down all debate? We may be extreme in our partisanship but can't we be moderate in our approach?
