?

We're trying to help some kids here - not just float pretty words at them.

4. There's nothing wrong with it
If the poster believes that giving $2300 to help their candidate become President will eventually do more to help children (and all people, for that matter) than the same amount to the Red Cross or whoever, they aren't doing anything wrong.

30. I have a question for you ...
Why is it that some Obama supporters feel the apparently irrestible urge to jump into each and every thread, trying to rally Hillary Clinton's supporters for donations, just to leave a big stinky one? I've looked at the threads for Barack Obama's supporters donations and don't see anyone mistaking them for public restrooms.

Don't forget to flush and wash your hands ...

73. It is possible to support a candidate and still donate to charitable
organizations, too, you know. In my case, the campaign donation I have made and will make do not diminish the amount that I have set aside for charitable donations.

7. Hillary’s health plan covers everyone at half the cost of Obamas plan that leaves 22 million out
Just did the same thing!!!
----------------------------
By the way. Have you people seen the new op ed column at nyt ? PAUL KRUGMAN writes about Hillary vs Obama’s health plan.
He refers to a new study by Jonathan Gruber of M.I.T, one of America’s leading health care economists,

He dissected both plans and "Gruber finds that a plan without mandates, broadly resembling the Obama plan, would cover 23 million of those currently uninsured, at a taxpayer cost of $102 billion per year. An otherwise identical plan with mandates would cover 45 million of the uninsured — essentially everyone — at a taxpayer cost of $124 billion. Over all, the Obama-type plan would cost $4,400 per newly insured person, the Clinton-type plan only $2,700."

Krugman writes; "As with any economic analysis, Mr. Gruber’s results are only as good as his model. But they’re consistent with the results of other analyses, such as a 2003 study, commissioned by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that compared health reform plans and found that mandates made a big difference both to success in covering the uninsured and to cost-effectiveness.

And that’s why many health care experts like Mr. Gruber strongly support mandates."

"If you combine the economic analysis with these political realities, here’s what I think it says: If Mrs. Clinton gets the Democratic nomination, there is some chance — nobody knows how big — that we’ll get universal health care in the next administration. If Mr. Obama gets the nomination, it just won’t happen"

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/04/opinion/04krugman.html?ex=1359867600&en=0a79062d32c378c9&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink

I don’t have enough posts to start a new thread, but I do hope some of you Hilary supporters will pick it up, and make it known to the DU users.

It gives Hillary plenty of ammo in the weeks to come. Hillary’s plan is far superior over Obama’s, both ethically since it covers everyone, and it’s also fiscally sound.

65. About these estimates -
History shows that estimates of cost to taxpayers are usually far below what the actual costs turn out to be. When we started Medicare, the predicted cost by 1990 was about one half of the actual. Isn't this true of so many government run programs such as IRS, social security, a multitude of other "entitlement" programs.

How much do you think the actual cost of these estimates of $4,400 and $2.700 will turn out to be? Much more, I betcha.

Instead I'm just an average working schmoe that can only send 100 bucks.

Well, I guess this situation kind of sums up the two campaigns, you send in 2300 I send in 100.

It's sorta like as Jim Morrison once sang
