Folks! This is exciting stuff. Obama WILL win the nomination |
|
It won't be easy at all. There is much to be written in this story before a nominee can be chosen...because I think it will be a pretty even back and forth with Clinton having the "name" and "establishment" advantage and Obama having the "charisma" and $$$$ advantage.
I believe the Democratic fringe and centrist folks are all pretty evenly divided on who to support. I admit Edwards was my first choice, but Obama has always been a close second.
I really think all the Obama and Hillary fans bashing on each other and grabbing for any shred of so-called evidence to make their case that their candidate is so much better is kind of silly.
Obama is TURNING OUT THE VOTE! But so is the desperation of our times. I think if it had been a couple of main line candidates like Biden and Edwards duking it out like Hillary and Barack are....the liveliness of Democrats would not be so high. I think no matter what we say about either candidate, the base is electrified and the GOP has to be staring down the gun barrel right about now.
Nothing could have surprised me more than the conservative base and whackos like Rush getting in line to pile on the candidate most likely to go forward and get the GOP nomination. With the excitement around Dems, quitters on the GOP side of the aisle in congress, issues favoring Dems, and a joke of a group in the GOP Prez race....I am VERY excited for November no matter who ultimately comes out victorious in Denver.

why the increase. but 2004 primaries saw NOTHING like this kind of activity level nor the amazing disparity between GOP and Dem voters.

other than your cynical fear baiting or your trauma about past elections.
Obama is pollling EXTREMELY well against McCain. There is no way the people are going to vote in that lying sack o' sh!t. Just not going to happen.

who does better vs. McCain? Clinton or Obama? and where is the link to these polls? Saying he'll lose all 50 states isn't "injecting realism" into the debate. It's being purposefullly pessimistic.

|
hell of it, I'm trying to figure out a way for a Democrat to win the White House! All this happy horse-shit about how great Obama does in "red states" means nothing when it comes down to a vote for him or the opposing party's nominee; it just amazes me how so many DUers think our little group here is in some way representative of Democrats in general, let alone the entire US electorate! You can deprecate flyover country 'til you're blue in the face but I guarantee when the rubber meets the road there is ultimately more rubber than road. You think I'm happy about this? FUCK NO but ignoring facts is one thing that gets people a) in trouble b) pissed off and c) ground under the heels of fascist assholes.

9. what are you talking about? If they somehow change the rules |
|
everyone agreed to and act like Florida and Michigan votes suddenly now count, it would be the height of Bushpublican way of cheating the American people.
Think about it....everyone did as the DNC told them and didn't appear on the ballot in Michigan EXCEPT HILLARY. Now why would she do that? If Obama canvassed through Florida there is NO WAY Hillary would have won by the margin she did.
The only way I agree with seating those delegates is if they put their people through new primaries where it is fair and both candidates have an opportunity to go out equally and ask for people's votes.

considering Bush won by blocking votes (in florida, of all places). It would by the opposite of Bush if Hillary fights to let people's votes count, especially in Florida, where they were all on the ballot.

did not the DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE AGREE they would punish those states who put their primaries earlier than Feb 5 who had not already been doing so?
If this hadn't been agreed to by everyone INCLUDING CLINTON then I could see your point. But how in the world do you consider it fair for her to do that? EXPLAIN IT TO A DUMB CULTISH OBAMA SUPPORTER please???!!!?

8. Rush has not really enjoyed his job since Bush was selected. He loved bashing Clinton..it was art |
|
And consider that with all the problems that are facing the next President, Rush will be slamming away again. And to be truthful, this is not going to be a pleasant 4 years. And just maybe the Rush and the Republicans want to wait on the sidelines and criticize; hence setting up their return in 4/8 years.

34. do you ever listen to your self.. ?? i dont entirely disagree. Everyone is a bit steep, i know lots |
|
of people who think for themselves, you are obviously not one of them
the apparent fact that you actually believe what you said, since "Everybody" does.. that makes it the 'Right Mind Set'.. sorry it isnt. it is the cause of all the suffering in this world... that emotion validates and solidifies one's concept of Self.. the chains that bind us to Samsara.
you need to learn to meditate, you will learn not to attach emotions to words/concepts/things. but the people who tell you how to think/emote wont let you.. that threatens their reality.

41. You're overreacting to what I said |
|
It's not that people are incapable of making rational decisions, but that emotions are powerful drivers. And very often what a person convinces him/herself is a logical viewpoint is really the rationalization of an emotional reaction. This is especially true with politics. People support the political party and the candidates who appeal to how they want to feel about themselves, then they look for justifications. This is just as true of the ardent supporters of other candidates as it is of Obama. BTW, there was no need to be insulting. As a woman, I really hate it when a man will attribute my motivations to emotion and trivialize them, while his actions are always driven by pure logic and reason. When it's clearly obvious that he is driven by emotion as well.

.. Obama wins the nomination and becomes president.
What will Obamanites think or do when he caters to Reep and corporate whims?
I really don't want either candidate to get the nomination too easily.. we need a truly liberal, Democratic buffering agent at play here.. particularly the influence of anti- corporatism.
