Congrats to a few of the Clinton supporters. They win the most egregious and revolting bash award. I've been seeing this comparison more and more frequently now that the "cult" meme has become firmly rooted.
For the record:
Hillary does NOT equal neocon Hillary does NOT equal right wing
And Obama certainly does NOT equal Hitler or any other evil dictator simply because he's charismatic.

Because I'm a Hillary supporter. And *I* sure as fuck don't subscribe to anything like that.
Maybe I should stay out of GD: Primaries. I'll just stick to the Lounge instead.
I would never, ever, believe that about Obama. That's nauseating.

Hitler, Stalin and Torquemada rolled into one don't you know. From what I've seen on GD-P, it beats Sturgeon's Law-90% of everything is crap-by about another 9%. I have my own reasons for not preferring either Clinton or Obama, but they don't involve total hyperbole such as I've seen too much of around here lately.

Clinton and Obama are BOTH incredibly bright, very talented, moderately liberal politicians. Both have gifts, both have flaws. Each would probably make a decent president, I doubt if either would be a great one. So be it. They are the two we get to choose from, and both are light-years better than the opposition. I'm starting to put all the haters from both sides on my ignore list. And it works! Some threads are filled with ignores, and I love it. Keeps my blood pressure down.

I read through the whole thing. Lots of Jim Jones whatever. I hadn't connected the koolade pitchers, though. I thought they were about Deaniacs of yore supporting Obama. A cheap shot, but not Hitler, not that pool of mindless vile hatred. Ah, me, this is all very, very sad, cali. Poor DU. I don't much want to be here anymore with what it is becoming.

20. I don't think anyone was comparing the two |
|
I read it as comparing the rather cultish adoration of their respective fans. And they are a bit similar at times. I find it creepy myself. Politics is a dirty and calculating business, but someone has to do the job. But I have yet to meet any politician that deserves such unquestioning adoration as Obama seems to get from his supporters. When people get a mentality that shuts off all judgement that's dangerous. That's really the problem with rethugs in my estimation.
At one point, Bush could have murdered a baby in full view of cameras and Bush supporters would have found way to excuse it. We're getting to that with Obama. I mean here you have the base of the party frothing over a guy whose health care plan is probably the least progressive of any candidate that was in the race. People seemingly able to just forget the fact that from the time he came into the senate to the time he decide to run for president, he opposed every timetable for withdrawal... pandering to the right.... I could go on and on, but it's like his supporters are incapable of seeing him for what he is... a typical politician.

what garbage you post. Associating Obama with Hitler is as blatant as it gets and there are two threads doing that on the front page of GDP right now.
As for unquestioning support. That's more of your nonsense. I've written many times about the issues I disagree with Obama on. I wasn't pleased with his McClurkin thing- at all. I don't like his health care plan as much as Hillary's. I disagreed with him on his Energy bill vote.
Now why don't YOU tell me where you disagree with Hillary.

And I hate to break this to you, but you are far from the typical Obama supporter either here or in real life.
I was an Edwards supporter because of his focus on poverty. I don't have much problem with Hillary, other than her war vote, but I can't stand the way Obama lies about his politically calculating votes when he first entered the senate by pretending they don't exist. His support for Joe Lieberman, his pandering to the right, and his about face on his campaign promise to repeal the patriot act. His health care plan just plan sucks. And I just don't find him qualified for the job. And frankly, this cultish adoration just sickens me. Reminds of the rethugs.

Obama provided no more support of Lieberman than did Clinton. And once Lamont won, both Clinton and Obama supported Lamont in the general. Unlike YOU, I don't lie about my candidate. Pathetic you have to resort to such.

real- but pretending that your desire for revenge is somehow "karma" or a 'good' thing- is no better than people who use religion to excuse their hate.
Where the hell was the parenting in your life? "yeah- but he did it first!!"-
If something is WRONG- why do it yourself and try to excuse your behaviour by pointing the the one who did wrong to begin with?
You think that makes you any less guilty???
geez- are DU'ers this immature???

...is that I don't find anything to HATE either of our candidates over. Both have some issues or positions I might disagree with. But the level of vitriol expressed by some here is completely out of whack. Calling Obama supporters cultists? Claiming to be a Democrat but saying you won't vote for Hillary? Just completely over the top. And the only thing that level of hatred calls into question is the sanity and stability of the poster responsible.

Ive never seen him compared to Hitler ever
I would say he is more like a cheap imitation MLK, except that he is running his campaign like Bush did in 2000 and 2004.
Bush pretended to be, 'above the fray' while his supporters slimed anyone who disagreed with him, and he just said nothing.
Obama is doing the same thing, running a sleezeball campaign by proxy. His proxies are in the media, mostly. Even Olberman is doing it now and certainly people like Ed Schultz, who's show has turned into a comedy routine lately with him catching himself when he goes into attack Hillary mode (obviously someone has told him to turn it down) and, to a lesser extent, Stephanie Miller.

Last week, the Obama supporters were lashing out for the most part at the Hillary supporters. This week, the Hillary people are leading the way in this ugliness. If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. People try and win pointless arguments. When they realize they can't, they resort to name calling and smearing. When all of this doesn't work, they threaten the person in question is so bad no support could ever be possible. Grand standing is fun to some. Ignore it.
