Survey Asks Americans: Which Presidential Candidate Would You Bring on Vacation?
Taking a slightly different angle on the political "popular vote," lastminute.com, a leading travel and lifestyle site, put candidates to the ultimate test by seeing how they rate as travel companions. From sharing an airplane elbow rest to sipping cocktails on the beach, Americans had some pretty strong viewpoints on which candidates they'd most want to include in their personal vacation time.

Results showed 44 percent of respondents would like to have Senator Obama as a holiday buddy because he seems like a downright "cool guy to hang out with." Some respondents thought he'd be a great companion for everything from exploring historical sites to partying the night away and thought he'd be the most likely to score discounts on the road. Other responses include:

-- Because the guy has "personality and seems the most chilled out."

-- He's "sexy, young, smart, energetic, fun, charming, witty, cultured and a great talker."

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton ranked second, with 23 percent of the votes, mostly because of the belief that she truly needs a holiday. Others said it was because:

-- They believe she's "intelligent and sensitive" with much to teach.

-- And, they'd get the inside scoop on former president Clinton.

Among Republican respondents, the favorite travel buddy is by far "Grandpa" McCain.

Unfortunately for Huckabee, not many would consider vacationing with him, unless of course he'd consider bringing Chuck Norris along!

Where would people take the candidates on vacation? More than 45 percent think the Caribbean would be the ideal solution for a break.

The lastminute.com survey revealed a few other interesting results, including:

-- About 58 percent of respondents believe that above all other candidates, Senator Hillary Clinton is most desperately in need of a fruity cocktail when asked who could most use a vacation right now. Runner-up is Senator McCain, with a very low 18 percent of the votes.

-- More than 34 percent (the largest group of respondents) may grab a parachute if they were seated next to Mrs. Clinton on the plane, with Mr. Romney coming in second (32 percent). When asked why, travelers feared former governor Romney might be a boring travel companion while Senator Clinton might try to steal their pretzels!

-- When it comes to who might look best in a bathing suit on the beach, Obama is once again drastically in the lead with 64 percent of the vote. His closest rival is Romney with 21 percent.

-- There are no worries of tabloid-worthy beach photos when it comes to Senator Clinton and former governor Huckabee. When asked "which candidates are least likely to be seen in a swimming suit with a French model," respondents predict these two would be nowhere in sight.

"The comments were the funniest part to read, and it's amazing to see how willing people were to respond," said Giovanna Garlati, communications manager for lastminute.com, "It is clear from their responses that the battle between Senator Clinton and Obama seems to reach far beyond political topics."

5. what a stupid survey!
Honestly - what's next? The AMA asking which presidential candidate would you like to get CPR from? What's even more astounding is that someone draws a salary for thinking up this inane shite.

6. Wow, this kind of stupidity reminds me of "I'd rather have a beer with George W. Bush" nonsense
Honestly, they could ask a question of substance on policy, but this is the best they could do???

7. Not exactly about the survey
But I'd like to take both of our candidates and all of their boosters to Rochester New York for an hour. We'd go to the little square where both Fredreick Douglas and Susan B Anthony lived and worked.
There is a scupture of the two of them sitting at a table in the square. All through this election cycle I keep thinking those statues are smiling quietly to each other. Fred and Sue, they are happy right now I think. They don't really care which one wins, they are just satisfied to see us discuss these two talented individuals in terms of experience and skill, satisfited that so many of us see one or both as too traditional, too conservative. And that so many of us see one or both as what we need in a President.
I think Sue and Fred would love our candidates, and love our debates about them, and love that these two are our choices. It might do the candidates some good to gain that perspective again. This is history, they are history and beyond the quarrels and the rough and tumble of campaigning, there is a moment to be noted at least. I think in fact we should cherish that moment with pride. As a Party and as Americans.
Ok so that was maudlin and all, but still.

9. Obama. No contest. But I still support Hillary. If she'll take me to Martha's Vineyard, I might-
change my mind and choose her for my vacation buddy.

11. A new angle on dumbing down the election
No thanks. I hope voters are smart enough to judge candidates on their issues and record.
