If Obama gets the nomination, who should he ask to be his VP?
There's still a way to go (and if Hillary is our nominee I absolutely/postively will vote for her & I hope EVERY poster on DU votes for WHOEVER wins our nomination), but if Barack Obama wins the Democratic nomination, who would be a good choice for the VP?....

I've heard some rumors about Jim Webb....Good choice, but I'd hate to see Democrats lose that seat in the senate...Virgina isn't exactly a blue state, & I'd hate to see a Republican replace Webb....Mark Warner will almost certainly win John Warner's seat, we are in great shape to have 2 Democratic senators from VA.....I'm not sure how many seats we will pick up in the Senate, but I saw a recent poll and that New Hampshire seat isn't a gimmie anymore...http://americanresearchgroup.com/nhpoll/senate08/

I would hope Obama would pick John Edwards...

6. Probably won't be Warner
Warner is running for the Senate, I doubt he would take the nod for VP. However, he does have aspirations larger than Senator so its possible.

I expect to see Richardson, Webb or perhaps even the Gov. of Kansas, Kathleen Sebelius. She's kind of a dark horse and may not leave her term as governor, but stranger things have happened.

20. Richardson
My first vote would be John Edwards but I don't think he would take it. Richardson has experience in many areas including foreign policy and we wouldn't lose a senate seat with him. Webb would be good as he is super-intelligent and would be a strong presence as he doesn't take crap from anyone.

22. wont be Webb or Warner-being a US Senator is a GOOD life
Webb needs to only get re-elected and he is mostly set for life or as long as he wants

Warner has to get elected.

I know everyone tries to think of putting themselves in that situation and working for a HIGHER CAUSE and all that but the money and the life of a US Senator is quite a good one.

9. I asked this last night, some good responses
This very question was discussed last night with some excellent responses, too bad you didn't read the posts, then you wouldn't have to ask the same exact question.

Chances are most people didn't read your thread, and if you were only asking it for yourself than you're sort of missing the point of a forum.

13. Webb
The Republicans will play the fear card, and Obama will be attacked mercilessly on terror and war. He needs someone who can give him credibility on that issue among those who respond to Republican fear tactics.

28. What about Bob Graham?
He's got tons of experience, balancing Obama's perceived youth and lack of experience. He's from Florida, which would be a huge help in the GE. He's got national name recognition. He's a former governor.

From a strategic standpoint he seems great. The main downside I can see is that he is 71 (same age as McCain). As a veep, I don't think that's as big a deal, though.

Any opinions?
