Donations to Clinton Campaign since Super Tuesday rising -- up to $5M
07 Feb 2008 10:40 am

Something has lit a grassfire under the hind quarters of Democrats who support Hillary Clinton.

In the 24 hours since polls closed on Super Tuesday, as more than $4M in donations from 35,000 new donors have poured into Clinton's campaign, according to a senior campaign official. (As of 11:00 am, the total is nearly $5M.)

3. We only need enough to stay competitive. Money isn't all Obama supporters want us to believe it is
Substance counts, as well.

7. That's right. Huckabee has been running on a shoestring budget

forever...a fraction of what all the other candidates have had and look at how long he has lasted. Now that Super Tuesday is over, she won't need as much money.

8. nothing different than a walk through GDP, alas
and yes, I think that one of the reasons people hadn't been giving to HRC is because they hadn't been asked to. I am on her mailing lists, and hadn't gotten a fundraising request until yesterday. (which makes me one of the 35,000, I suppose) the perception was that she had plenty of money, now that it is clear she might need more (whether she does, or is just trying to go head to head with Obama on money for points is unclear and irrelevant) people are chipping in.

16. Excellent, point, northzax! Obama's website makes you register...
... before you can even enter. That turned me off.

I'm on the Clinton list, and I haven't been asked to donate, either.

Time for me to hand over some cash.

12. Obama - $6 million raised in last 24 hours
A campaign was launched Wed. to match the $5 million that the Clintons loaned her campaign. In 24 hours, $6 million was raised for Obama's campaign. That beat Ron Paul's 24 hour record.

14. My friend, the political cynic, called me this morning about Hillary's campaign funds
The last time he donated was to Chris Dodd (whom I also supported), and before that he had donated to Howard Dean in election 2004. I've been asking him for days to donate to Hillary's campaign and he refused, insisting he's not going to donate to any more politicians.

Last night I sent him the links to the New York Times and The Guardian articles associating the word "cult" with Obama's campaign. This morning my friend called me.

Him: "Have you donated to Hillary?"

Me: "I donated two days ago."

Him: "Well, I just sent her a hundred dollars. Donate again."

Me: "Okay, I'll send 50 bucks."

Him: "I'll call you again tomorrow."

:)
