Gore Endorsement Rumor Kicking Around the Clinton Campaign
interesting read after hearing people suspect he may endorse HRC. Just like everything else, this is merely a rumor.

A well-placed spouse of a Clinton campaign insider just told me that a rumor is spreading like wild fire that Al Gore is going to endorse Barack Obama.

My source emphasizes that this is rumor and may just be paranoia and hyperventilation of the campaign, but it's important to know that this rumor is out there. Another source of mine inside Obamaland has told me that they have been working very hard to secure Gore's public support and trying numerous avenues to "encourage" him.

Frankly, I'm surprised that Gore would do this now -- despite his clear disaffection for the Clintons. He is the undisputed king of the climate change franchise now, but even kingdoms can be assaulted, undermined, outfoxed, circumvented, ridiculed, and starved.

If Hillary Clinton wins this tight race -- which she may still do -- then Gore is gambling with his own status as a climate-change first-and-only transcendant politician.

It will be interesting to see what happens, and of course if Barack Obama wins the primary and then the presidency, Al Gore will get significant credit. The problem is that that can work the other way too.

1. WE Have Reclaimed Our Party
As long as we remember what we can do, we can stand behind Al Gore and force the Clintons to treat him with respect and get the climate work done.

4. I think
it's smart for Gore not to endorse Obama. He knows the Clintons and he knows that they'd undermine his efforts because they're a tad vindictive.

14. They would just sidestep him
and take the path of least resistance, like they will with everything else on her "agenda".

2. rumors... rumors... rumors...
One thing about Al - he won't ever confirm or deny ANYTHING!

I love him to death, though!

3. I think he would retain his neutrality in this election.
Whichever candidate wins on the Dem side, he will need to form an alliance to get things done. Both Obama and Clinton will both be good for Gore to work with to effect real change when it comes to the environment. We could really get things done and I thing Gore knows that.

5. "Frankly, I'm surprised that Gore would do this now ..."
Im not.

I think Dean and other high ranking Dems are frantically trying to eliminate a potentially disasterous contested convention.

12. The only thing more disasterous than a contested convention
Would be years 28-32 of a BushClinton dynasty. Howard Dean & Al Gore recognize this fact as well as I do, and they're not going to be the ones who make it happen.

8. Wishful thinking, nothing more
Can't blame the Hillbots.... they're having a rough week, and they want to find hope in something. But it ain't gonna be Al.

President Gore's staying out of this primary. If he wanted to be involved, he would be running. And winning, more than likely.

Until there is some sort of confirmation, take a grain.

13. Endorsing Obama would make 10x more sense...
...But I'm still not sure that I believe this.

15. Al will come out for Obama later this month, allowing Obama to win a string of
victories and pull ahead of Hillary. Gore's endorsement would then send a signal for others to coalesce around Obama.

Al's endorsement won't target particular states in an attempt to win, as did the Kennedy endorsement; it would rather be more like a seeming crowning of the winner.

17. It's coming from a lot of sources actually, but it is still just a rumor.
But I have heard Gore and Obama talk about every 2 weeks.
