Since Obama is out raising Hillary - why doesn't he take some out that money and donate it to
the tornado victims in the South or Katrina victims that are still suffering or to the homeless Vets?

Is it really necessary for him to have that much more money to compete?

I might actually support him if he did that.

97. 'Syntax' is not an insult. And it has nothing to do with any reference to Shakespeare.
What *is* an insult is the term you used (and then deleted) for people who are mentally challenged.

And it's not the first time you've used it. So you knew better.

52. Or if Hillary would just concede,
they could pool their money, making it all available to make sure the Democrats win in November!!

(and they could still send a bit to the tornado and Katrina victims)

Yeah, I know. But it makes about as much sense as the suggestion in the op.

25. That's right....
When you give money to a campaign you are doing so on the expectation of making political change. When you give money for cause like Hurrican/Tornado relief you expect that money to go for that cause.

of grassroots small donors (such as myself--a whopping 50 dollars total) sent him money. Now it's "greed". You've got to be kidding me. How about this: Obama gives his money away, and then if he's the nominee, we face the Republican with NO FUCKING WARCHEST! Stupid, huh?

53. I think they liked Biden because he was in the Senate for a long time
and had waited for "his turn" as the experienced guy. It's natural, I suppose, for them to gravitate to the next longest-tenured candidate. But their hatred for Obama on here is even more irrational than that of Hillary supporters. Must have been that "clean, articulate" thing that set off the bad blood to start with--not Obama's fault, however, and he's been totally classy about it.

hoist by one’s own petard

(pi-TAHRD) To be caught in one’s own trap: “The swindler cheated himself out of most of his money, and his victims were satisfied to see him hoist by his own petard.” A “petard” was an explosive device used in medieval warfare. To be hoisted, or lifted, by a petard literally means to be blown up.

62. So he should put himself in the same financial position of Clinton
but he'll be seen as a nice guy? None of us know whether or not Obama gives personally to charitable organizations already. Why should he give money that was specifically given to him to aid in his becoming president to anything other than that? And truly - as President of the United States he can do a heck of alot more for these people and victims of future disasters than he can just writing a check today.

Did any of Clinton's $77 million that she spent through December 2007 go to Katrina victims or homeless vets? No, but we know that $4 million of it went to fatten up Mark Penn's wallet. In the same vein, we don't know how much $$ the Clinton's give to charitable organizations, what we do know is that someone in her campaign is not a good manager of money and Hillary Clinton chooses to just throw $5 million (that we know of) at the problem and not fire or replace any of the people who got her in the position she is in.

I don't know about you, but I plan on voting for the nominee since my state's contest is over - I hope you aren't implying that you won't support Barack Obama in November unless he gives up his campaign resources today.

71. What we should do is demand election reform.
The money that is being thrown around is ridiculous.

79. Both have championed for campaign finance reform - in fact Bill Clinton
has made it clear that no candidate should self-fund! (Guess he forgot that or changed his mind)

But demanding that one candidate (who happens to have raised more money and who happens to have better managed their funds) give money away because the other candidate has a poorly managed campaign (and who won't take control of it but rather just throws more money at the problem)is not logical.

I hope Senator Obama does, too. I want my campaign donations to be used for his campaign.
