11. You don't watch Tweety much, do you? |
|
He has said no fewer than five times how much he and MSNBC love Obama -- in those words. "He's the new guy, and we all love the new guy." He uses the same mancrush language he favored Bush with.
It's not hidden by any means. It's out in the open.

27. "More" than how many? |
|
Of course they are going to interview Clinton's people occasionally. It's a news station. But they won't interview them too much. And did you notice that Mark Penn (HRC's campaign consultant) only started being interviewed after that hit piece on him in The Nation?
The pundits are strongly ANTI-Clinton, including Tweety. Again -- it's a hipster market.
Olbermann has the least anti-Clinton bias -- a drop squeezes through every now and then. They have a few pundits who defend Hillary (and Bill) occasionally, like Dan Abrams and Craig Crawford. But it's a solidly Clinton-bashing station.
That brings in viewers, especially the young, hip, high-income viewers that they run ads for. It kept Obama from being blown out of the running. Now they get to have an exciting primary season that lasts until the convention -- lots of viewers, lots of ad revenue.
But with Tweety, it gets personal. His anti-Clinton animus is longstanding and deep.

14. Anyone recall the interview of McAuliffe on The Daily Show? |
|
Roughly 4 years ago. It was clear that Stewart was looking forward to it. They had interviewed McAuliffe's GOP counterpart (Ed Gillespie), who was a great guest -- funny, self-effacing, informative. McAuliffe couldn't quit spewing the Party Dogma for a second, even when Stewart asked him to stop repeating campaign slogans. Jon was clearly disgusted. Gillespie was a return guest, but I never saw McAuliffe on there again.
If Tweety wants to interview McAuliffe, he's welcome to him.

If you think it isn't an executive decision on their part to avoid debates to their knowing that their 'mystique' isn't NEARLY as strong when having to be in a real setting, and that they know being on the ground giving motivational speeches is the way for him to keep some momentum going, then I would consider you to be quite naive.
If the Obama camp thought for a second that discussing the issues in a real time debate format, while having to speak off the cuff was something he could excel with, they'd have NO problem attending more debates. But they no that the more they debate, the more of a chance viewers will get to see with their own eyes how much more prepared and ready Hillary is than he is. So yes, they absolutely are a bit afraid.

That's crap. Obama will debate Hillary again but it won't be on her timetable alone. He's going to figure out when it is best for him as well.
Jumping to Hillary's immediate demands isn't fear at all. As much as you'd like to spin it that way.

24. Oh C'mon Now. You Know That Ain't What It's About At All. |
|
It has nothing to do with not wanting to be ordered around. If his campaign felt for a SECOND that it was beneficial for him, or that he had the presence to WIN these debates, they would've responded COMPLETELY differently. Please tell me you're not that naive. They would've said "We absolutely welcome more debates. It is an important part of the process and the public needs to know where we stand on the issues in a clear and resounding way. We are confident at the end of these debates, that message will be clear, and the public will see why we are the best" etc blah blah blah.
They don't want more debates because they don't win the debates. They don't want more debates because they know Hillary comes off as far more prepared, experienced, tough and quick out of the gate in the debates. They know the more one on one between them that is shown, the more it becomes evident that though good in his own right, that Hillary is simply superior as a leader.

26. I think you're right. |
|
Obama seems to struggle for answers when he's asked questions he isn't expecting. And it's not just a pause for a moment to think, it's almost like he has to figure out what to say.
Barack makes a lot of promises, but there's just no substance there. He doesn't explain how he's going to do anything...he just promises he will, expects us to trust him...
No thanks.
I'm not a Hillary supporter, but Hillary does seem much better in these situations, more prepared, or something.

22. What nonsense. He'd done fine in debate after debate and he |
|
unquestionably had his best debate one on one with her. He doesn't need debates as much as she does at this point. This is standard stuff when one candidate feels they need more debates and the other doesn't. It telegraphs that her campaign is worried.
