Don't forget the House and the Senate!!! |
|
With all the emphasis on the Presidential Candidates I'm afraid people will forget to pay attention to the House and Senate races. Please check these out in your states and be sure to get involved. We need a strong Democratic majority, especially in the Senate because a Democratic President will need it and, in the absolute worst case, the Country and the world will need it if a Republican gets elected.
Please get involved in those races! They are terribly important.

because what you say is very true. In order for the next Democratic President to achieve their goals, it is vital we have 60+ Democratic Senators and a larger majority in the House.

3. I don't think we'll get 60 senators.... |
|
We may get 55, by virtue of all the Republicans retiring and going up for re-election. That is still a daunting task.

2. I do care about the senate and house races. Obama helps, she hurts. |

We are going to be fighting to hold majorities if Hillary is the nominee. It will get ugly down ballot if she's at the top. We will lose millions of voters who might otherwise pull the straight party lever, and that will kill off thousands of local candidates she pulls under.
Almost no Democrat in the South or West who has to run for office wants to see her lead the ticket.

5. I agree with your post. |
|
But I've been down this road many times, and if you have someone at the top who is an albatross in the South and the West, you will likely lose the House and Senate. I believe it is naive to think Hillary at the top will not cost us many seats in congress and many, many local elections nationwide.
This not personal with me. It's business, Democratic Party business, the point of which is to win at all levels and grow the party throughout.

6. I understand your concern but, as Tip O'Neil said "all politics is local" |
|
so if you work on the local level for some of these people, that may blunt any negative impact the Presidential candidate has.

7. FL Dems working on unseating both Diaz-Balart brothers and Ros-Lehtinen in Miami |

Challengers set to unseat both Mario and Lincoln Diaz-Balart in MiamiIt would be tremendous, to wrest the House seats away from these three.
