The DNC should ask the people of Florida and Michigan if there vote should stand
Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 03:58 PM by sunonmars

Why can't the DNC undertake a huge poll withing Florida and Michigan with the aid of 2 of the most neutral polling bodies.

Ask a random sample of 15'000 people in Florida and in Michigan, Do you think the results of the Michigan or Florida ballot should stand.

If it is a yes, then the vote should be honoured, if it is a no , then a revote applied.

Its a simple way to as certain if they feel that no campaigning affected a decision.

Could this not be a simpler way of them deciding.

Its their vote, let them decide!

26. And just how would this large poll
ensure everyone only voted once? You call everyone with land lines only? On the Internet, DU :)

6. In an unfair and unbalanced race.
44% of the people in Michigan turned out to vote AGAINST her as uncommited, knowing their vote wouldn't count.
It's not even possible to estimate the number of voters in FL & MI that didn't even bother showing up.
And she is a "known" candidate - Obama isn't. They both deserve the equal right to campaign.
In the end... They should caucus.

12. No, they shouldn't caucus. You don't get to do it over just because your guy lost both states.
sheesh.

13. What rubbish, they campaigned for uncommitted, they took themselves of the ballot

Their fault alone. No one asked them too. The people knew what they were voting for, that shit don't fly of people didnt know.

you act as if people of florida and michigan have no tvs, internet, newspapers, eyes and ears.

7. I don't want do-overs either Josh, someone has to give way somewhere

I think Hillary won these fair and square but why are people so against asking the people of Florida and Michigan what they want to do, its their votes.

21. I wouldn't worry about it, if it came down to the wire, Dean and Hillary and Obama would sit down...
And the nomination would go to the one with the most pledged delegates + popular vote. Because that will essentially be the arguments that are made at the DNC.

20. The rules state that their vote doesn't go toward the nomination. It won't.
But they can be seated. :)

Nothing in the rules say they can't be seated.

9. Screw that
they broke the rules, were informed of the consequences, and went ahead anyway. They should get no delegates and see if they bother to follow the rules next time.

11. This is so unfair!
Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 04:05 PM by samdogmom
The agreement was to NOT run in the two states and to NOT count their delegates. Everyone was in agreement UNTIL HILLARY WON! (Gee--do you think if your name is the only one on the ballot that you have an advantage?) Give me a break! If she pulls off this theft--and that's what it is--a common ROBBERY!--who do you think will respect her in the morning? Not me! EVER!

23. Smoke and mirrors...whatever! Politics as usual when the Clintons are involved!
By the way, I love your peace dove "thingy" (sorry, don't know what to call it--but it's very catchy). Thanks! It calms me and tells me that ultimately in the end we're still going to be on the same side!

18. its this kind of win at any cost approach
that is quickly turning me off to Clinton supporters and Clinton herself.

Obama DID NOT RUN in Michigan, he wasnt even on the ballot. Edwards, wasnt even on the ballot.

And yet now you have laughable calls to count the votes for Clinton, who was the only front runner not to take herself off the ballot.

24. Have the polls in this election season always been reliable enough?
Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 04:18 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
There are a lot of new voters coming out to vote and the old polling methods may not be sufficient to include them in the proper proportional amount.
