*Sigh* A plea to unite: Day 2. |
|
Well this went over so well yesterday :eyes: I guess I'll make a daily thing out of it. At this point I don't care who gets the nod. I'd prefer Obama but I'll take Hillary if I must. What I am calling for is for DU to stop all this fucking around and get together. Get ready. Be prepared to support an Obama/Clinton or a Clinton/Obama ticket. If we can get these two to agree that whoever gets the nod takes the other as their running mate we could in effect get all this pointless bickering past us and work on beating the crap out of the GOP.
Then again what do I know. My day one plea got exactly one response, from an obvious Hillary supporter, who informed me that Obama's campaign is dead in the water, and that he will never win any of the "big blue states". So my first call for unity I was told in so many words, to fuck off. I can't wait to see how day 2 goes.

...but I don't anticipate this effort will fare much better. Primary time is crazy-making time.

2. I agree with you. I like both Obama and Hillary, I have my preference |
|
but I'm happy either way. I wish that everybody could keep their eyes on the bigger picture.

I agree with you, as well. While I have my personal pick, I will support either Obama or Clinton in the general election.
As I've seen written on DU before, "It's the Supreme Court, Stupid!"
And it is!

4. United we stand, divided we fall |

You'll get no argument from me. I think the disruptors have been directed here to SPLIT us apart. Look for low post counts, no profiles and repeated posting of bullshit threads.
These people are NOT members of DU. React accordingly! :patriot:

6. True to an extent, but look at today's responses |

None have a huge post count and one is less than 100. Yet they come down on the side of unity. My one response yesterday was from a long time DU'er. I realize the trolls are coming in in droves but I try not to discount people with low post counts till they prove themselves trolls. Honestly I have given up on reading the "Hillary hates Autistics" and "Obama ate My Goat" threads, I have been coming around less and less waiting for the nominations to get here in hopes that once we have a candidate we can at least work to get them elected. But I see many "I won't vote for so and so" threads that make me worry even more.
The worst thing is in avoiding the primary threads I'm stuck in the "smoking" threads in GD

And I have a low posting count-came here looking for Democrats now that I live away from my life long home. Profile? There are profiles? I'm behind... But I will be voting for the nominee. I'm used to my choice not being close to the nomination, I'm used to voting for candidates with whom I have huge qualms. I like them both better than I liked Kerry, and I voted for him!
I have no need to be in a winner's circle, I just want a winning Party.

7. Well then neither of them deserve the nomination. |

This isn't about Obama or Hillary it's about the Country. If they are truly politicians who truly care about the people and the county then they will put this bad blood aside and do what's right.
On Edit: I thought that about McCain and Bush in 2000. After the smear job they ran against McCain I thought he'd never speak to Bush again. But low and behold.. buddies forever.

There is still some sanity here, but most of the sane ones are avoiding GDP these days. I really long for some meaningful debate about the candidates, but I'm afraid to express an opinion lately.
