This race has been going on for a year now. He's been in the public eye since 2004. I think the grace period is over.

Thank you.

3. Yes, your candidate has a first name that is not easy for most people to spell,
Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 04:33 PM by smalll
as well as a second name that replicates that of a dictator this country fought a war against, and a last name that is one letter away from the name of the "Mastermind of 9/11."

He's sooooo electable. :eyes:

we've had some of those.

13. Gotta love racism
Clinton is quite possibly the single most divisive politician in America today. And you think Obama is less electable because of his middle name?? Anybody who's ignorant enough to base their voting decision on a candidates middle name probably won't be voting for a Democrat anyway.

23. The problem here is not racism, it's names:
Harold Ford, Jesse Jackson (Or even J.C. Watts) wouldn't have this issue. Only your guy does.

34. I've known it was "Barack" for a while, but it was a learning process -
One wonders, is it one R, or two? Is there a "c" or not? Everyone goes through this with his name. It's objectively difficult for English-speaking Americans to master. (Probably in part because of the existence of the word "barracks.")

Because you'd have to be stupid to have a problem spelling "Barack."

Maybe they don't even know what his middle name is. We should all keep it to ourselves and tell no one.:eyes:

33. Hmmm. Which campaign has which of these things:
Huge pumped-up rallies filled with over-excited youth. Grandiosly empty slogans. Nebulous, "post-partisan" calls to "Unity" for the nation. Disdain for the older generation and for recent history. Condemnation of all current political parties. Impatience with the compromise and complexity of the the process of democratic governance. A "charismatic" candidate who assumes the position of a messiah and gives good speeches (but shys away from debate.)

Hmmm?

This campaign:

(note the "man on horseback" imagery to the right)

20. You can insist, but it won't work. People can't spell
People still spell Reagan's name Regan, Kerry's name Kerrey, and McCain's name MacCain. And those names have been around WAY longer than Obama's.

On the bright side, fewer people are calling him Barack Osama.
