How would that "hope and change" candidacy work out for him if he was the nominee against McCain?

It probably won't happen but the issue will be huge in the voter's minds because McCain and the Republicans and the MSM will make sure of it. The effect on the Obama candidacy would be the same.

20. Yeah! I remember those empassioned speeches on the floor of
the senate, from the end of March 03 right up through her re-election campaign, decrying Bush's abuse of power and misuse of the authority the IWR gave him...

Oh. Wait. She didn't.....

4. By the time the November election comes something will have
happened that makes the American people want a tough guy in the White House and McCain and Hillary are tough guys. Obama appeals to those who think we can rise above the fear, but if we are actually in a state of fear he will be slaughtered.

So, we better choose wisely(HRC) and not the one that would fold under the pressure of another 9 11 type attack(obama)

correctly again and the people would applaud him while Bush was declaring Martial Law so that he could stay in the White House forever.

Edited to add: I wonder if Hillary would bend over for that vote too?

17. if terrorists strike McCain has the military "cred"
Both Clinton and Obama would have difficulty against McCain given the lack of sophistication in the general populace. His 'experience' will likely trump both potential candidates.

Either Clinton or Obama NEEDS a military/security person as VP on the ticket. Perhaps Webb or Clark.

Jeez. The things some people will try. Do they think Obama just got off the school bus? He isn't that inexperienced.

22. If we have another terrorist attack before the election
40% of the American population will insist on Bush staying in office because he will protect us. 20% of the American population will believe Obama is part of the attack conspiracy because he is Muslim. 20% of the population will go along with any plan to invade another country, take your pick. The remaining 20% will stand with their mouths hanging open, not believing the behavior of their fellow citizens (and media).

23. We probably will be attacked again
it may be a boost for McCain if it happens before the election. Either way Clinton or Obama would probably be attacked by Republicans and will have to appear strong on the issue.
