yeah, his crack about chelsea was in bad taste. BUT, he's also one of the few good guys on news at all.
how many times have videos of him putting the screws to the republitraitors been put up on DU?
hillary supporters should back off, he apologized, he made a mistake, but he's also on our side as a whole. he reports real news and has asked real questions.
how many times has he filled in for Keith?
if MSNBC fires schuster, that doesn't bode well overall for us.
schuster gone only helps the republicans in the long run.
there, I said my peace, flame away.

ask us biden supporters.
in the long run, schuster has helped tear down republicans and make them answer real questions more than just about anyone on the news, except for olbermann.

MSM should be reporting news, not calling names, not sexying up stuff so people will watch, not giving 20 sec sound bites but news. In my opinion. That is what I see the issue. It is not 1 person saying something sexist/racist/nasty, but the whole thing.

12. Hillary lost me with this one. |
|
No one has fought harder for the Clintons than I have, from the very day that Monica Lewinsky's name hit the news a decade ago. Every stinking day for years, I spent hours on behalf of the Clintons.
But this manufactured drama is too much. What possible benefit is there for this to dominate the news cycle?
Hillary has just made enemies of more than a few reporters who might have been inclined to treat her fairly. She declared war, and she'll get war.
Are the Clintons addicted to drama? I'm beginning to wonder. I've sure been surprised at their actions in the past few weeks.
I, for one, have had enough drama. The American people deserve a little peace and calm.

my worry is the clinton campaign is using schuster as an "example" to be made out of people who don't handle them with kid gloves.
its really turned me off to them since I like schuster for being more than willing to embarass repubs by making them answer up to facts.
in the general, schuster would be one of the ones at MSNBC helping the clintons, so its definitely coming off as an attempt by them to muzzle the press to their side.
not exactly inspiring for those of us who are undecided or didn't support one of the top two.

They went ballistic on reporters early in the 2000 campaign, intimidating members of the press regarding their twin daughters among other matters. Result? A cowed press corps. Everyone knows how well that went for the American people.
Honestly, I don't like this authoritarian streak and it's frightening me. (And I am NOT an Obama supporter.)

MSNBC, despite its treatment of edwards, is one of the few places on network news where you can even HEAR the truth (olbermann, schuster.)
we're going to be facing an onslaught from the big 3, faux noise, CNN, and talk radio.
we're going to need all the friends we can get. Schuster is one of them.

I never thought it, either. I thought they had superb control and grace under pressure. Even when Limbaugh called Chelsea a dog, and when all that Vast Right Wing crap was being thrown at the Clintons every day for years, they stood with humor and grace.
I believe they are getting bad advice. I hope that's what it is. Cuz I really don't like to think they have been revealed for something else.

And still like him, in spite of the remark he made about pimping. What a word! I was absolutely furious about the McCain remark about Hillary when she was a little girl. As far as I'm concerned he should have been horsewhipped, at least figuratively. But as several people here have pointed out Chelsea is an adult now.
As far as the awful use of this lousy term, I've heard pimping used over and over again. "I'm here pimping my book," this writer posted. I forget what book it was. Another said something about "pimping" a party or something. It was used another time about a conference or a workshop the poster was pimping. This is the sense in which Schuster used it, and he should be well called out about it. However --
The basic problem is the general debasement of language, not only on TV and radio but also on boards like this one. We allow and use ourselves this kind of bonehead language to cover anything and everything.
How come our illustrious vice president can tell one of his colleagues in the Senate to go fuck himself? FU and word fucking is sprayed all over this board and others. Shoveling shit. Asshole. It's everywhere. Oh, it doesn't mean anything I hear. But can't the posters think of another way to express outrage? The English language has zillions of words to use for communicating rage, satire, disgust -- why go all the way back to Anglo Saxon?
It's not only scatalogical language either. This one's a shill, that one's a bot, the other one's a whore. They appear to be words of the primary era.
Great. Congratulations to us.
