It's really about the Supreme Court of the United States..
This Fall is not about Hillary/Barack/McCain. They are the players. But what is at stake is the Supreme Court. By most odds, anywhere from one to four Justices could retire (alive or dead) in the next four years. To think the Ultra-Conservative 'Christian' Right neocon power structure is going to see all their efforts since at least 1980 jeopardized is foolhardy. This is not going to be about race or gender. The RW will present this as 'your worst nightmare' and 'every thing you hold dear will be taken from you by the liberal Court' etc...Forget 2004 and Swiftboats...this will be pure FEAR...they already know it works. Look at where our rights stand post-9/11. It is time for Democrats, Independents, even Republicans to realize what is at stake. We can stall, if not outright stop, the neocon agenda from being validated and enforced by the Supreme Court. We just need to elect our candidate. Let Barack and Hillary fight it out. We need to find out who is strongest, who more of us want. But in the end, we must come together to throw off the yoke the neocons and their like have burdened us with. Maybe it's hokey, maybe it's a pipe dream, but you have to believe in what's good about America, what can be achieved by the People acting as the People. From the end of the movie of Steinbeck's 'Grapes of Wrath' is the speech by Ma Joad that sums up why America is the one place where the people have a chance from the bottom up. It might be simple, but you gotta believe it's true. And it still applies. "Rich fellas come up an' they die, an' their kids ain't no good an' they die out. But we keep a'comin'. We're the people that live. They can't wipe us out; they can't lick us. We'll go on forever, Pa, 'cause we're the people." 2. Four Justices are Over 70
And Justice John Paul Stevens is 87.

The next President could have three or four appointments. God help us if it's a Republican president! We'll have Ken Starr AND Ted Olson on the Court. It won't be "nine old men" -- but it WILL be SEVEN RIGHT WINGERS. Goodbye Roe. Goodbye Griswold. Goodbye Brown v. Board of Education. Hell, these people are likely to reinstate Plessy.
