Q to Edwards supporters re his future plans |
|
Maybe this has been addressed, I've been inattentive lately. Edwards has said he's not interested in the vp spot. I've also heard he's not running for re-election to the Senate. If that's true, what does he plan to do that's better, in the event he doesn't win the nomination? I've seen the electoral map on his website, think it makes a lot of sense. If he were nominated he'd give Bush a hard time in several regions, he'd be less vulnerable to attack (as extreme and soft on bad guys) and if we're going to lose, we wouldn't lose badly with Edwards. There was a time I didn't take him seriously. Too young and lacking Kerry's experience. But IMO he's the next most electable after Kerry, and even a loss wouldn't hurt him careerwise. I just don't understand about his contingency plans. What's up with that?

1. A couple months ago he said that no matter what happens, next January |
|
he was going to be either (1) the senior senator from NC (no longer an option), (2) the president of the USA, or (3) a Raleigh trial lawyer, and no matter which happened, he'd still be the happiest man in the world. He loves the idea of all three of those jobs.
Practically speaking, he could run again for Senator, or run for Governor in 2006 (I think). He could get appointed to something. His wife could run for Senate against Dole.
Personally, I think he's going to be President.
