I Have Decided To Vote For Senator Clinton In The Wisconsin Primary |
|
Not because "my candidate" (Wesley Clark) has endorsed her, but because I want to. It has been a long process. I can happily vote and work for Obama is she isn't the nominee. The Wisconsin primary is coming up, so at least my voice has a chance of being heard.
My reasons, (or some of them anyway): (Not necessarily in this order)
1. Her experience with fighting the repuke smear machine ("I will not be swiftboated"). I am sure Senator Obama has experience with this, but I know Hillary has more. 2. Her foreign policy experience. 3. Since mccain is going to be the repuke nominee, I think Senator Clinton should consider someone like Wesley Clark as her VP (If Senator Obama is the nominee, I hope he considers Clark as well. I think with mccain as the rep nominee, A Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket with delight the repukes.) 4. I like the fact that Hillary has be re-elected to a national office. Senator Obama cannot say that he has. 5. I like that Hillary has made health care an issue for many, many years, and I know she would continue to do so if elected President. 6. I also like that she was in the White House for 8 years, even if it was as a "bystander." It allows her a perspective and experience that Senator Obama does not have. 7. Yes, I like that she is a woman, and I still believe a woman has to do twice the work to be considered as "good as a man." 8. ***To be continued.
I repeat, I will work VERY HARD for whoever the nominee is.

1. So you're ok with her purely political vote to send our men and women in uniform to war? |
|
You're ok with her ambition being more important than the lives of our troops?

16. Yes I am. The vote for the IWR authorized Bush to send our troops to battle with nothing |
|
They need to be funded. I fully support to vote to give them what they need.
Bush has shown that he would veto any bill with deadlines for withdraw attached. We cannot leave our troops stranded with nothing.

18. So why has Obama stopped voting to fund the troops? Why does he hate the troops? |

22. What a lying sack of shit this is |
|
The resolution authorized the president to go after Iraq within the confines of the United Nations' resolutions and authority. It was the president that chose to violate this. Not Clinton, not Kerry, not Edwards, and so on.

2. You put forth very thoughtful reasoning on this. |
|
I appreciate how hard this has been for some people. I also like how you will work very hard for whoever the nominee will be in the end. I agree with the reasons you put forward. I feel the same way about her. Neither of them are perfect, so I do not really listen to Obama supporters criticizing her or Clinton supporters criticizing him. Wouldn't it be awesome if she did choose Wesley Clark as VP? He is wonderful.

3. How can you get past that Iraq war vote and her continued insistence |
|
it wasn't a vote to go to war when the vast majority of Americans knew that's exactly what it was? I would feel more favorably about her if she didn't continue the tap dance around this issue. Also, re the war, polls show Obama beating McCain while Hillary doesn't. McCain = 100 years of war.

7. Voting for it and continuing to pay for it |
|
are equally egregious offenses to some of us. If it is alright to overlook his continual funding of this war, it is alright to overlook her vote for the IWR. Her one vote on the IWR did not start this war and was not the cause of this war. People are blaming her one vote for the entire thing and that is not fair. Now if he had voted no on all of the funding for this war, that would be an entirely different story. The OP has put forward very thoughtful reasons why he/she has come to this conclusion. That is his/her right and we should just be supportive of a fellow DU'er even if we disagree with the outcome.
