1. Ballots are printed and approved by party committees long before the election. |

I'm pretty sure that some of the Republican candidates who have pulled out are still on the R ballot, too.

3. Edwards just suspended his campaign (not sure about DK) which |

lets him resume down the road and keeps him on the ballot. It also keeps his delegates pledged to him for the first ballot in many states(not all).
