1. I heard he was running limited TV ads
because he didn't have the money to compete with Bush.

Not a positive sign, especially with 527's being held to the law (not being able to specifically campaign for or against any particular candidate).

14. What's the rush?
We have nominated a Democrat yet, remember?

Or is it OK, now?

15. Money's not an issue for candidates?
Edited on Fri Mar-12-04 10:14 PM by MercutioATC
Nominated or not, he stands a good chance of being nominated and money IS an issue in elections. I know which button you're trying to push here, but you're going to have to at least try to make sense if you want a reaction.

(oh, and I think you meant "we HAVEN'T nominated a Democrat yet)

26. Thanks for noting my grammatical oversight.
But I'm still curious to know.....are you now approving DNC fundraising for Kerry? Last week it was premature. Is it OK now?

30. Since he has the delegates, I have no issue with it.
My only objection last week was that nobody had enough delegates to secure the nomination. Kerry does now.

4. "A Challenge a Day, Keeps Bush at Bay"--to counter the money gap,
Kerry must continue to make a headline every day with a pithy remark about Bush, that is accurate and slightly derogatory--something the press will jump on and and which will stick in people's minds...

In other words, he must take control of the media message.....isn't that what Bush has done for the last 3 years??

27. Remember
Gore had only half of the money that Bush had for his campaign in 2000. ANd with thet Bush could not win the popular vote.

ANd Kerry now has the number of delegates needed to be the nominee acording to the latest tally at CNN:

Kerry 2162
Edwards 534
Dean 170
Clark 57
Sharpton 27
Kucinich 23

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/primaries/pages/scorecard/index.html

Once he won the four states on tuesday, superdelegates from those states started endorsing Kerry.

7. Someone on CNN suggested that Bush was running his ads
simply to bankrupt Kerry. Sounds about right. I have a question though-why would there be any undecided/"swing" voters left? Both men are known quantities, both in character and policy. If a person can't decide between the two by now-well, I just need an explanation.

9. I do. Yes he does.
And if Bush keeps running those idiotic lying ads Kerry won't have to run any. All he has to do is keep refuting them with the press covering him and then they run it over and over for free.

11. Kerry needs Edwards trial attorneys' money
Kerry raised 10 million online in 10 days, pretty good huh? But this of course pales in comparison to the GW fund.

Edwards has BIG donors, wealthy trial attorneys who met with Kerry yesterday. Kerry needs this support.

Dean is not interested in a VP slot, Edwards is.

Kerry/Edwards the winning ticket

It's all about the benjamins...

I suspect this is probably illegal (so don't jump all over me!), but - what if interested foreigners were to send money to their Dem relatives in the States to put into Kerry's campaign?

Don't forget - the rest of the world wants the jacka$$ * out of office too, It's in our best interest. And - we only like to be neighbourly and help out!

Wee're counting on you! So please don't let us down. A vote for the Dems is a vote for the return of global sanity.

19. I think the money is coming in
at a pretty rapid clip now, and will continue to do so, and to accelerate. I plan on donating as soon as I get a fresh infusion of cash.

I think that the fact that there were two major grassroots based candidacies with major fundraising power will turn out to be a great boon to Kerry in his campaign for the presidency.

He will have twice the money Bush does by the September...

Not likely to happen, but he will have more than enough to mount an effective challege.
