One thing made me laugh about Clinton's new slogan today.
Edited on Thu Feb-14-08 09:30 PM by Drunken Irishman
She's standing on stage, rattling off a bunch of slogans about how we need more than hope and words are just words and then she ends it by saying we need real solutions. In all of what she said, in every subtle attack on Obama, she failed to offer any solution, except that rhetoric doesn't bring about change. A bit ironic that she's using a word lacking any real substance to attack Obama on what she perceives as him campaigning on the notion of rhetoric without substance.

lol

Same with McCain in his victory speech. He said NOTHING, yet cricized obama for a lack of specifics. It was ridiculous.

2. If that's all she's got.....
she's done. She's a flawed candidate, running a bad campaign.

I honestly think McCain could beat her, but he won't get the chance to do it.

3. Frankly, we live in an era of soundbites- none of the candidates stand
up and give detailed policy speeches on the stump.

5. I agree with you 100% Blue.
Which is why Clinton's attacks are falling flat.

Hell, doesn't she even remember her husband campaigning on the simple slogan of "It's the economy, stupid!"?

Oh, that's right, she's not allowed to attack Obama at any level. It may be construed as racist.

29. years spent doing pro bono work for mothers and children
"of all colors" ... pro bono work. taking donations? or earning her dollars the old fashioned way? one cent at a time! but of course, hillary is a woman. a white woman at that, and bill kristol has said "white women are a problem" ... hence you must hold your nose while you smear her with all sorts of rhetoric falsehoods. go ahead. you are not alone.

17. One of the late night shows made a joke about her new slogan....read....
lead in to the joke was something like "and hillary clinton introduced a new campaign slogan today to a crowd in the convention center"

they cut to a pic of hillary standing in front of a bunch of hillary campaign signs

the signs read "HELP"

18. Hillary's changing slogans are the problem with her, there's no consistent reason to vote for her
The main problem with Hillary Clinton, and why she's unelectable, are because of her constantly changing campaign slogans. There's just no consistency in why we should vote for her. I mean lets take a look at what Obama and Edwards said.

Edwards
-He'll tackle the big bad corporations
-He'll stick up for the little guys

Obama
-He'll change things in Washington for the better
-He offers us a more hopeful future
-He won't make the wrong decisions on stuff like going to war in Iraq, only to find out "opps, guess I was wrong about those WMD".

All of the reasons to vote for Obama are very consistent with each other, he attacks the ways things are currently going in Washington, and offers to change things for the better. John Edwards was also quite consistent, he'll stick up for the poor, and fight the evil corporate interests controlling Washington.

Now take a look at all of the reason's Hillary has given out for voting for her over time.
-She'll return us to the golden years of the 90's.
-She's got the most experience
-She'll change things back to how they used to be in the 90's.
-It would be too risky to put anyone else in office
-She's been delivering change for the last 35 years of her life
-She'll stick up for the poor

It's like Hillary just changes campaign slogans at the drop of a hat, whenever the polls say her old one isn't working and that something else will work better she changes it. She's failed to brand herself as something to appeal to the voters, instead her enemies have branded her with all sorts of negative things, like cold, and calculating, and how she changes campaign slogans just reinforces those images.

35. Agreed. And this is a continuation of the "Hillary doesn't know who she is" meme of the 90s
Remember all the appearance make-overs and changes in her approach to public relations (e.g. the Tammy Wynette brouhaha which morphed into the Hillary-shares-her-cookie-recipe damage control) that garnered so much criticism? Now, I think a lot of that was overblown and harping on trivialities. However, her inability to stick with one solid message and her attempts to redefine herself and her campaign on the fly are playing right into that old criticism of her as someone who will bend with the breeze to suit the moment.

Edited on Fri Feb-15-08 03:07 AM by Political Heretic
Failed to anticipate a challenger to my assumption that the nomination was my divine birthright.

Failed to manage my campaign finances effectively.

Failed to raise money to match my opponent.

Failed to develop a consistent, successful campaign message.

Failed to deliver on my promise to dominate super tuesday.

Failed to win any of the last eight races.

Failed to keep hold of my super delegates.

Barack Obama: Change we can believe in.
Hillary Clinton: Failure we can count on.

(Yeah yeah yeah, I went there - went negative. :) Damn, they should really hire me for negative ad guy. I do not kid around!)
