Why didn't the Clintons complain when they got 90% of the black vote? |
|
Now they are saying it's because of race that Obama is getting 90% of the black vote? You can't have it both ways...

Without the black vote the Clintons would just be a few no-names in Arkansas.

3. oh yes you can; presumably blacks were voting for dems over repubs because they shared the principle |
|
principles of the dem party. there is after all a great difference between the philosophies of the dem and republican parties and it's quite understandable that those people who are concerned with advancing civil rights would vote democratic, whether the candidate was white or black. there is simply not that much difference between the political philosophy of obama and that of the other dem primary candidates, so there is no reason to expect such a disproportionately high backing among african-americans. witness the fact that other demographic groups have split among the candidates roughly equally; one group may prefer one candidate over another by a small margin, but nothing on the order of 90%. the most logical explanation for what is happening is that black people are voting for the black candidate. don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that i can't understand this, or i'm outraged by it or anything like that. i'm just saying that it is disingenuous to pretend that it's not happening. i'm sure that there are some women who are voting for hillary just because she's a woman, but not as many as there are blacks voting for obama because he's black.

4. well in the primaries yea it is why obama is getting it |
|
but in the general of course the dem is gonna get that much. I think some people just feel its not right that in the primaries, that seemingly many blacks are voting for Obama solely because hes one of "their own" instead of actually looking at issues.

5. Is it racist to divide people up by race? |
|
I think so. Why are you trying to divide us rather than unite us?

6. the black vote has frequently supported non black candidates |
|
so what was it that turned voters off Hillary?
well, I'm white and essentially started opposing her when I thought her campaign was playing identity politics because I thought it was offensive. certainly many black voters saw the same thing and opposed her in order to oppose racism.
too bad for her though. when her campaign started doing that i had a blank absentee ballot which i was going to fill out for her. but i got so disgusted, i looked closely into Obama's campaign, his positions and once i was convinced he was the best for the job, i happily voted for him. but i really started looking out of disgust with the Clinton campaign.
