Ben Sargent's Latest

I love this guy's work. He has a way of distilling large topics into pictures that say it all. While it is quite possible that Sen. Clinton could win here in Texas, she's going to have to work for it. The Obama folks are pumped up & jumping at the bit, but locally I've yet to see any enthusiasm for Senator Clinton beyond "I'm voting for her in the primary."

No flames, just calling it as I've experienced it.

1. I can't help but feel bad for her in a way
Edited on Fri Feb-15-08 07:51 AM by Submariner
She has probably been planning this run for the presidency for about 10 years, and in almost a nano-second she went from the "inevitable" president-elect, to struggling for her political survival now.

I assume her only 'alone' time is when she goes to bed for the night. This spiral down must be incredible for her to wrap her mind around when she is alone in her thoughts.

2. Part of me feels that way too
But in all honesty, if she really wanted the presidency, she would have stayed on top of the South Texas party bosses & had them keep the voter turn-out as high as it was in 2002. Instead, no one in the party establishment did anything to GOTV in 2004 or 2006. In fact, my local party chair was told point blank that we would be getting absolutely no resources & no assistance for the 2006 governor's race because the metro areas were "more important." The only thing we were "encouraged" to do was send them money. So, now my SD in South Texas can only send 4 delegates to national instead of the 6-8 we sent in 2004.
