Mathematics 101
Edited on Sun Mar-14-04 05:58 PM by Endangered Specie
If in a 'majority wins' election E of n canditates a_0,a_1,...,a_(n-1)competing with 'x' votes, or delegates possible, if candidate 'a_0' recieves > (x/2) delegates, then it is impossible for candidates a_1,a_2,...,a_n-1 to win and a_0 is effectively the winner of said election E:

So a little application here:

x=4162
a_0 = Kerry, John F.
x/2=........
you get my point by now I hope.

So, why do people genuinely think that another candidates can win the election?

Its STILL the mathematics...

edit: I cant spell

5. well as a mathematician, your math seems right, but...
delegates can change their mind and go against the popular vote, THAT'S WHY THEY AREN'T DEMOCRATIC, that's how. I mean, who knows, maybe the delegates will wake up a realize Kerry is the weakest candidate one the board, and that the media selected him so that the election would be predictable and their financial interests would be secure. Probably not, but you never know...

6. pledged delegates are not free
only superdelegates are free to go to whoever whenever they want to. but pledged delegates,w hich are the delegates won from the primary elections have to support the candidate who won those delegates unless the candidate releases them.
