All Obama would have to do to garuntee super delegates followed the will of the voters....
Edited on Sat Feb-16-08 01:06 AM by Political Heretic
...though I think it would be a huge mistake to do this, and I'm glad that I don't think it would happen....

...but its not hard to figure out....

...all he would have to do is hold a meeting with party leaders and say: either the superdelegates get in line and back the candidate who wins the majority of pledge delegates and thus respect the will of the voters....

...or I will run as an independent candidate in 2008 and you can kiss the White House goodbye. No not because he would win, but because it would split the party.

REMEMBER - I LIKE POLITICS, SO I AM NOT ADVOCATING THIS. I AM JUST ANALYZING THE SITUATION AND REALIZING THAT HE COULD APPLY TREMENDOUS PRESSURE ON THE PARTY IF HE CHOSE TO.

I do not want him to do that, and I wouldn't support it if he did. But I like to think about all the variables, and I was wondering if anyone else had thought of that?

6. Your post is thoughtful and it makes people think...
but we all know he's just not that type of man. He's not perfect but I don't think he's vindictive. As Michelle Obama said, this is the only chance they will have of applying for the presidency. They have no intention of ever running again if they don't come away with the prize this year.

People should wake up. He is the best candidate bar none. You're pulling for all of us and so am I.

GoBama! Yes we Can!

7. Your statement is silly
or you are to believe that Obama will only run once. He is a young man and should want to run even more if he doesn't get the nom. this time. If he believes what he says, how could he give up that easy?

8. I don't think so either - and I think there are better ways to advocate and look out for the party
...honestly, I still find it highly unlikely that we will truly see a situation where one candidate has a majority of pledged delegates and the superdelegates reject that and go the other way. It would fracture the party. No one wants that.

No, the BIGGER mess of an issue is how to handle MI and FL.
