Eight reasons to vote for Obama over McCain
As an ardent Hillary supporter, I am very committed to voting for Obama if he gets our nomination. Here are a few reasons why:

1) Iraq. A hundred year occupation versus withdrawal within a short, reasonable period of time. For the average voter, this is a no brainer.

2) Transparency. Obama will at least try to run a more transparent government than McCain. Whether he succeeds, or sticks with it, is anyone's guess, but the contrast couldn't be more glaring.

3) Stem cell research. McCain will retrench and compromise on this issue, because he needs the religious rightwingers to get elected. Obama does not and will not. We're all getting older and this is a primary issue for our parents and us.

4) Supreme Court justices. Don't have to say much more about that one.

5) Healthcare insurance. Obama will at least try. McCain won't.

6) Obama is a role model for inner city black kids. McCain is a role model for young white kids who play a lot of golf on the weekends. Which group, in our society, needs role models more? (yes, I know they're stereotypes, but they're valid, nevertheless.)

7) Taxes. McCain will try to preserve Bush's tax cuts. Obama won't and will hopefully bring tax relief to the middle class. (note: some of us personally benefit more from McCain's take on this issue, but if we are to succeed as a nation, it's important sometimes not to vote purely on selfish self interest.)

8) I can't stand John McCain.

3. Terrific post

We need more of this. I'm really tired of the "If __________ isn't the nominee, I'm staying home because his/her supporters suck."

SCOTUS, SCOTUS, SCOTUS, should be reason enough to motivate us all to crawl to the polls if necessary. You've listed several other good reasons.

I'll support the Democrat in November no matter who it is.

Basically the argument comes down to the Dem candidates(either of them) suck less than the Repukes(any of them), but, to be honest, they all still suck.

7. Hillary votes in my area are going to McCain..
(at least at this point in time). The argument is, McCain will actually be able to accomplish things-like getting us out of Iraq. The assumption is he has some liberal leanings regardless of his current rhetoric, but being a repub he will get support from both sides.

Obama may get the nomination, but if my area is representative of the country, there is not one slim chance in hell he'll actually be elected.

8. Sad to see you following the hype about the contest being over.
Obama has started pretending he's now running against McCain, as are his DU followers.

It reminds me of Bush getting together his team to start planning the move to the White House, while we and Gore were still fighting to have the votes counted.

9. Nope
don't think the contest is over at all. And I think Hillary would make a far, far better president than Barack for a whole host of reasons. But that doesn't mean he wouldn't make a far better President than John McCain. I think he would.
