Kucinich: Ouster of Spanish government sends message to U.S.
http://www.kucinich.us/statements/statement-031504.php

March 15, 2004
The ouster of Spain's pro-Iraq-war government by voters yesterday should send a clear signal to the Bush Administration and to Democratic Party hoping to defeat him that "a war built on lies and an occupation based on greed" are issues that will determine the outcome of this year's Presidential election.

"The defeat of the pro-war, pro-Bush leadership in Spain comes as no surprise to Americans and other members of the world community who believe the invasion of Iraq has made us all less safe, rather than more safe," Kucinich said. "And unless the Democratic Party is willing to display the courage to challenge the war and the no-end-in-sight occupation, peace loving Americans will not place their confidence in our Party."

Kucinich, who is still actively campaigning, said Sen. John Kerry and the Democratic Party leadership "must understand that this issue will not go away simply because they appear to have collected enough delegates."

"I am in this race to make sure that doesn't happen," said Kucinich, who led the fight in the U.S. House to oppose the resolution empowering Bush to invade Iraq almost one year ago.

3. Not sure
I got that one from Kucinich's site.

There doesn't appear to be anything up on Kerry's site yet, but I'm not sure if that means it's not been released or just isn't displayed on the front page.

21. The Spanish election is a rejection of the Iraq war
I don't expect people that voted for the war to say anything about Spain pulling out her troops on June 30. PNAC/PPI plans for Iraq are a carbon copy of each other.

23. Well, we're supposed to take it on faith
that Kerry won't follow the PPI's plans.

I pray to God he doesn't.

4. Kucinich speaking the truth again!
This is exactly what needs to be said. Yet people want his voice unheard so that we end up with more comments like those of CNN today. That the Spain election shows the terrorists won... :eyes:

GO KUCINICH, the voice of the people!

9. Oh please tell us more!
How was the crowd? Big? Enthusiastic?

How was his speech? Standard stump? Anything new (besides this, of course)?

18. He gave a GREAT speech!
Edited on Tue Mar-16-04 10:54 AM by Padraig18
He spoke to a crowd of about 200 at the Decatur Public Library, and he absolutely roasted Bush's butt on: the economy, the war, jobs, education, health-care, etc. . He was VERY well-received, especially since Decatur has been extremely hard-hit these last 3 years of terms of job losses.

I got to speak with him briefly afterwards, and even gave him my little battery-operated 'flashing eyes' donkey pin, after he commented on it. He also signed a campaign poster for me. He's a very nice, approachable guy who comes across MUCH better in person than he does on TV.

:D

10. This sounds so much more rational than the other version
On NPR they this guy I usually don't hate (Daniel Schor?) was talking about how Al Qaeda won and Bush lost in Spain. WTF?! Maybe (hopefully!) I heard him wrong.

People know what's up. Even AMERICANS are catching on now! :D

12. so true
He comes out and says exactly the truth. That the people were against the war and they voted out the admin that went against what the people wanted. He did not echo the CNN statement that the Spanish election showed the terrorists had won. So many on DU are in an uproar over the CNN/generalmedia bullshit, yet so many want to mock the ONLY candidate speaking the truth.

17. Just curious
Have you been disappointed yet by DK? I know some people seemingly were by his horse trading with Edwards... not sure if they were really Kucitizens ro not, but that's another story altogether.

As for me I can't say I have.

I guess now's as good a time as any to mention how much I love this man!

19. To answer your question
There are a couple of minor things I would rather he was different on, but.... there's *never* going to be *any* candidate who is completely on target on everything for everyone. Just can't happen...... there are too many issues, both large and small.

But the fact that in all the years I have been involved, I haven't EVER been this enthusiastic says a whole heck of a lot. When I stand back and look at the whole man, I'm absolutely amazed that he has come into his own in a time like this. It would be great if he were a woman, as I'd really like to be represented by a woman for once, but.... I don't see that happening. ~~gigglesnort~~

Since I'm still involved with preparation for caucus, I think it's important to be aware of the areas where Dennis isn't "perfect". That relates to honesty, and if Dennis is anything, it's honest.

Unfortunately, the atmosphere here doesn't lend itself to that.

Kanary

Another Delusional Diehard for Dennis!!

Kucinich 2004!
