Kerry Campaign proving to be bad ass
HEADLINE: Bush Lite: What's With the President's Re-election Campaign?

BYLINE: By Stuart Rothenberg

OK, so where are they? And why can't we find them? I'm not talking about those weapons of mass destruction. Or even the jobs that were supposed to be created by the economic recovery. No, I'm talking about those nasty, vicious, unfair assaults from what Democrats refer to as the Republican attack machine.

Democratic Party lore holds that the Republicans fight dirtier than they do. The evidence most often cited includes the so-called Willie Horton ad from 1988, Saxby Chambliss' TV ad attacking then-Sen. Max Cleland (D) in the 2002 Georgia Senate race, and attacks by Bush allies on Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) in the 2000 GOP presidential race, particularly leading up to the South Carolina primary contest.

Regardless of whether you agree that one party tends to be nastier than the other in its attacks (and I don't), this year's Bush campaign has been anything but aggressive or quick to counterpunch.

<snip>

While Kerry and his allies never miss an opportunity to skewer the president or Vice President Cheney, the GOP rapid-response team seems less than rapid and not particularly responsive.

The rest of the article goes onto say how the Kerry Campaign has been incredibly aggressive post Super Tuesday, hitting Bush on all levels - domestically and foreign policy, including controversial issues like Bush AWOL. The Bush team has been rather lax in their rapid-response. Conventional wisdom is learn from your mistakes, and in this case the Democrats are tired of the Gore/Dukakis ass kicking we recieved so we're fighting back and fighthing back hard.

Lets go get those Bush Bastards!

1. It is sweet to watch
the Democrats from all quarters (pols, pundits, bloggers, etc.) on the continuous attack.

5. you got it
Yep. And just because of John Kerry's comment on what he REALLY thinks about the Republican Party, I'm calling his campaign and sending a donation. Wasn't going to before (college...funds become tight) but I am now. I'm also going to stump for Kerry as well.

9. I got a reply from Kerry's campaign
in response to my request that he NOT apologize for his comments. They were clear in stating that he would NOT. Yeah!

By the way, welcome to DU, air napkin (and I have no idea what that name means!) :hi:

2. Stu Rothenberg should check Drudge
& Right Wing Talk Radio, if he wants to see the ugly side.

7. It is certainly interesting...

My hypothesis is that the multi-headed nature of the Chimpministration makes it impossible for them to act quickly for fear of embarassing inconsistencies.

Let's face it, Chimpy's no leader. He doesn't have any control of Cheney or Rumsfeld, and even Powell has to be chafing. They all say different things and are going in different directions. Hardly the "ministry of all talents" we were promised when Chimpy was supposed to "surround himself with smart people".

10. Good theory
They have to remember who told what lies when. Not good for rapid response. And they still step in their own BS at every turn.

11. Believe me, this is just the calm before the storm
Bush is a sleaze, an idiot, and a failure, but he isn't a weakling like his dad; he's going to go down fighting. This race is going to be the dirtiest in American history.

12. The chimpys have no response
because they can offer none, they can't talk about the good economy or anything like that because they have run things into the ground so badly.

13. What I like is
we have some vicious pitbulls of our own. Stephanie Cutter has been a sparkplug on the campaign and she was a very effective pickup from the Ted Kennedy offices...

I know they have yet to get vicious like they truly want to and I think they are holding off as much as they possibly can with the press all over them for what has been released already, but I like that we're very quick to respond and respond with enough facts to make even the most stiff Republican's head spin.

BTW, I wish we could post whole articles because this is not the first Roll Call article I wish I could read that has gone up... it will take me awhile to get the funds for that subscription... all thanks to the Bush Economy! x(
