Honestly...

I've been ashamed of this country for a big part of my adult life.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but here goes anyway:

While we boast being the greatest nation on earth and teach our kids "we're #1", we've fallen behind terribly in math and science education. We have such a *great* healthcare system, but we don't provide some sort of universal coverage to ensure that all american can have equal access to quality medical care. We impeach presidents over white house bj's but let war criminals who lie about getting us into war get off scott free.

A large percentage of our electorate bought into Bush's bullshit and we have had EIGHT YEARS of it...we have been a laughing stock around the world. I, personally, am embarassed by this.

We as a nation practice an international foreign policy that includes hugging the bad guys when we need them and then condemning them when they go to play for the other team. Who trained Bin Laden? Who armed him? Who gave Saddam Hussein his WMD? WE DID.

No to stem cell research, no to gay marriage....ugh.

I am a Clinton supporter...and even though I can come up with some reasons that I've not been particularly proud of our country, I don't even think that is what Michele Obama meant...
