So...Obama 'sneaked' down to North Carolina... Thanks MSNBC
Link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23213622/

CHICAGO - Barack Obama sneaked down to North Carolina Sunday and met with former rival John Edwards, who has yet to make an endorsement in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Officials at North Carolina television station WTVD said they have video taken from a helicopter of Obama leaving Edwards' home in Chapel Hill. A producer said the station was "tipped off" about the meeting, but said the source was confidential.

The Obama campaign confirmed the meeting. Although reporters normally travel everywhere with Obama, he left them behind to fly down in secret from his hometown.

He 'sneaked' down. How about this as the lead-in:

Sen Obama went down to North Carolina to have a private meeting with former rival John Edwards. Sen Obama didn't inform the press because he didn't want them swarming around the Edwards' home and flying over in helicopters so they could get pictures of the event.

When the used 'sneaked' I half-expected to see a picture of Sen Obama in a trench coat, a fedora hat and sunglasses 'sneaking' into a car, onto a plane and then under the cover of dark getting off the plane in North Carolina.

on note: I was, am and always will be an Edwards supporter. I am leaning a little toward Clinton. But, the lead-in for this story is b*ll-sh*t!

3. it's not bullshit...sorry
bullshit would actually be better...he's in their sights now.

the media has mostly given obama a pass....that won't continue....it seems that now obama mostly has a lock on the nomination the media has decided to go for his throat at the first available opportunity.

4. white people needed rescuing. black people were looters
you remember Katrina. All the Network news camera shots with anchors almost saying "I had NO IDEA there were so many poor black people in this country."

I really really hate the lily white approach to covering candidates which is why a win for Obama is a WIN FOR THIS COUNTRY. If you were ashamed to be an American when Katrina happened...think about how a black president would change the entire thing for us.

6. Well, he did sneak. So what? When you duck the press, when you are being continuously covered,
that IS, like it or not, sneaking.

Why are you so hyperoffended? Saint Barack routinely gets glorious and unquestioning coverage from MSGOP. They're the ones that use PIMP and Sounds Like Witch words to refer to Clinton, engage in misogynistic banter about her for their own boyish amusement, but Obama gets the Kid Gloves and the "Ooooooh, when I SEE him I get a TINGLE up my LEG!!!"

They'll give him the "adoring" treatment all the way up until he goes head-to-head with McCain.

Then they'll beat his ass like a dusty old rug.

GE, We Bring Good Wars To Life.

14. UH OH....SNEAK is a SEXIST word too I guess! Designed to "Put Down" women candidates!
First, to your points:

McCain isn't trying to COVERTLY win an endorsement. And when you are covert, you are, by nature, SNEAKING.

It's not the same, because it ISN'T the same.

If McCain and Huckabee were neck-and-neck, and they both needed Romney's votes, you can be damn sure you'd see headlines like:

"McCain Sneaks Behind Enemy Lines"
"Huckabee Hightails it to Romneyville"

And for the "EWWWW--it MUST be RAAAAAAACIST!!!!" whiners here, who can be relied on to "take offense" at every fucking opportunity, I have some bad news--that SNEAK word must be SEXIST, too.

Hillary Sneaks Away to Seek Edwards Endorsement
    by Aaron Bruns

Hillary Clinton spent Thursday morning flying to North Carolina - unbeknownst to her press corps - to meet with John Edwards at his home in Chapel Hill — where the two former rivals discussed a possible Edwards endorsement.

Clinton officials would not discuss the sit-down, calling it a private meeting. And Edwards aides confirmed the meeting, and said he has another private get together scheduled with Barack Obama on Monday. Those aides say he’s been “in talks” with Clinton and Obama “for weeks” about an endorsement, though he has not yet said who he will endorse or when he will do it. Another source described him as “very torn” in reaching his decision.

Sen Clinton praised Edwards twice yesterday in lewiston, maine, yesterday, telling an ex-Edwards supporter that she and the fmr NC Senator have a lot in common. “I will be a fighter, and I intend to ask John Edwards to be a part of anything I do at the White House,” she said.

9. "Hillary Sneaks Away to Seek Edwards Endorsement"
Edited on Mon Feb-18-08 09:30 PM by Crisco
Fox.

Local ABC station:

"Obama visits Edwards in Chapel Hill" ... in the same story: "The private meeting comes a little more than a week after Obama-rival Hillary Clinton sneaked into the triangle"

Any further comment?

12. fair enough
I still believe they would never have used sneaked with McCain -- especially as the lead in.

I still think they would have used something less 'loaded' like unannouned.

13. We'll Never Know
As McCain will not be courting Edwards' endorsement, and he already has W's.

Peace.

There are several sneaky McCain references in the bodies of articles, as well.
