RNC's Gillespie calls Dean a "mouthpiece for terrorists" |
|
unbelievable the things these punks get away with.
Statement by RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie
Washington, DC—RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie made the following statement about Howard Dean’s recent comments during a Kerry campaign conference call blaming the deaths in Spain on President Bush and the War on Terror.
“When asked whether he was linking U.S. troops in Iraq to the deaths in Spain, Dean referred to the videotaped comments of the terrorists and said, ‘That was what they said in the tape. They made that connection, I’m simply repeating it.’
“Dean even issued a statement after the call, saying again, ‘Today I was simply repeating what those who have claimed responsibility for the bombings in Spain said was the reason they carried out that despicable act.’ (Associated Press, Nedra Pickler, Dean: Bush Responsible for Deaths in Spain, March 17, 2004)
“We cannot allow presidential candidates or their surrogates to become mouthpieces for terrorists. Blaming freedom-loving people for these attacks is not the way to defeat the scourge of global terror.
“Howard Dean said a number of untrue and irresponsible things during the course of his candidacy, including accusing the President of knowing about the 9-11 attacks before they happened. Those who seek the highest office in the land and those who speak on their behalf have a responsibility not to repeat the threats made by the terrorists we are working to defeat or by replacing the facts with rumors and fiction.”

Kerry Doesn't Share Dean's View on SpainAP Mar 17, 10:58 AM (ET) WASHINGTON (AP) - Presidential candidate John Kerry said Wednesday he does not share fellow Democrat Howard Dean's position that President Bush's decision to send troops to Iraq appears to have been a factor in the Spanish train bombing..... http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040317/D81C7BEG0.htmlDean, who ran unsuccessfully against Kerry in the Democratic primary and is now supporting his campaign, said he was simply repeating the connection made on the tape. In a statement issued Tuesday night, Dean clarified his comment by insisting there is no justification for terrorism and calling last week's bombing "a despicable act."

This is just as wrong as your BS claim that Kerry "hushed" Dean.
According to the article, Kerry did NOT repudiate Dean. He only disagreed with him.

16. Is this how 9/11 happened? |
|
Those who seek the highest office in the land and those who speak on their behalf have a responsibility not to repeat the threats made by the terrorists we are working to defeat or by replacing the facts with rumors and fiction.
So if you get a briefing that says there might be planes hitting buildings soon, you're not supposed to talk about it to anyone - after all, that would be repeating the threat. That sounds like what happened when former governor Bush* went on vacation before 9/11 if you ask me. Is this the Republican strategy for dealing with terrorists?

21. this is the statement he doesn't agree with? What? |
|
"candidate John Kerry said Wednesday he does not share fellow Democrat Howard Dean's position that President Bush's decision to send troops to Iraq appears to have been a factor in the Spanish train bombing....."
Of course it was a factor
I don't understand the reason for denying this statement no matter how much you wish to play it safe. Give the American people a little credit for intelligence instead of allowing the right wing to set the terms of the debate.

1. What reason would the terrorists have given for the attack on Spain, if the Iraq war had not happened? 2. Are you anti-abortion? 3. Are anti-abortion proponents serving as mouthpieces for clinic bombers? 4. How, in your estimation, does the election of the socialists in Spain amount to appeasement? 5. In your answer to question 4, didn't you just serve as a mouthpiece for terrorists?

Why are the Dems and especially Kerry always asked to aplogise or retract statements that aren't even near to be as grave as that statement (like "crooks and liars") but these assholes can say the most extreme things.

when I see the news ticker at Fox News on 48th Street here in Manhattan scroll (I might not remember it exactly, now that I've come back upstairs) "Bin Laden is innocent, former presidential candidate Howard Dean says..." I wish Kerry would come up with a slightly differently nuanced response than the one he has so far.

35. Who's Really a mouthpiece for Terrorists? |
|
I think Democrats should point that none of the statements of Democrats have been placed on the websites of terrorist organizations. However, Ann Coulter's statement about invading countries and converting people to christianity was placed on a terrorist website. So that leads to the question who's really a mouthpiece for terrorists. It seems to me Ann Coulter has been used more to incite terror than any Democrat. Even though her words were not meant to encourage terrorists they were used by terrorist groups to support their argument that America was evil and that the war on terror was just an excuse to attack muslim countries. It seems to me that each time some Republican says some hateful racist statement they incite terrorist. Just imagine what President Bush's ad with the Middle Eastern man did to incite terror. Finally, how about each time Bush and company say they are beating the terrorist. Doesn't that make them want to bomb more countries to show they are not really being defeated? It seems to me the Republicans are the real mouthpieces for terrorist.
