Impressed by Kerry
Hey everybody,

Just dropping by - spring break from my teaching duties just started and I had a few minutes.

I have to say, Kerry was not my first choice for our candidate. I was afraid he would turn out to be a "nice loser" candidate.

I have been very pleasantly surprised.

If he and his campaign team can keep this up - the soundbites, the policy speeches, the waking America up to reality - I think they stand a great chance.

Anyway, my condolences to supporters of other candidates, and my congratulations to Kerry supporters - as by default I have become one as well, I'm very happy to see that he is acting like he understands how important this is, and is getting his message out. It's been great so far.

2. Didn't you get the memo?
The word on the street around here is that he's lost the first battle and that Bush* is gonna trash him. This week he's a loser. See you next week.

3. It goes to show how perception can vary
I've seen other posts today that state Kerry is losing, he's not fighting enough, etc.

I guess some think that if Kerry doesn't deliver the knock out blow in March, it's a done deal and Bush wins.

It's interesting to see your point of view after all the negative stuff today. I don't watch TV so I rely on the internet as my source of information. It's been really hard, lately, to sort it all out and get a clear picture of what's going on with all the conflicting takes.

I'll trust you because your a professor and I admire professors. Thanks for the update on how the Kerry campaign is doing.

4. I haven't been getting my news from around here
Don't have the time or the stomach to read all the acrimony among Democrats. But I have been stealing peeks at the good progressive blogs when I get a minute, and I'm really impressed with Big John.

Did you read his speech about the military today? It was awesome!

http://www.johnkerry.com/pressroom/speeches/spc_2004_0317.html

A little scarily militaristic for my taste, but that was the subject of the speech, and he hit Bush hard, in every paragraph.

The people in this country are getting sick of that bastard, and it's making my month.

PS - I'm not a professor in real life - just part time faculty, teaching a grad course this semester. In my real life, I'm a drug discovery researcher.

5. I saw part of it on MSNBC
It was a great speech. It's a shame not too many here at DU heard Kerry today. He was pretty splendid.

7. Tip o' the hat, Professor
From one Prof to another. I've been a Kerry supporter all along, but I've always enjoyed, admired, and been enlightened by your posts. I'm very happy to have you on our side.

Enjoy the break. Mine starts on Friday at one p.m., and not a moment too soon.
