Personally, I think the DLC has done more to hurt the party in the last 8 years than help.

1. I hope beyond repair. Groups like the DLC have done more
harm to the Democratic party than the opposition.

5. The DLC has done a great job...........
of shooting THEMSELVES, and by extension 'US', in BOTH feet. ONLY thing left to do is rearrange the deck chairs on the DLC titanic.

9. not to mention rham emmanuel's close relationship with Obama
along with the fact that they have senior staffers who are married to each other (spare me the Carville/Matalin bullshit, it's a different game now) It is very clear to see that they are helping each other out.

12. I have always argued DLC is not necessary any more because their ideas won!
Just look at most of the candidates this time.

You don't need a special lobbying group if the party leadership now operates by your creed.

(Please note there are exceptions to that in the party)

15. true, it's just that there are some duers who
think calling the dlc in Hillary's pocket is a slur. Truth be told, they're in Obama's pocket, and always have been.

14. It's OK he'll listen to the DLC and DNC and I suggest create a shadow group of honest adivsors.
George Bush had his clergy advisors who confirmed that God had appointed him our saviour and he will not go against God's will for him and our country. Unfortunately, Cheney, is being allowed to pursue his own policies while supporting Bush's lunacy. (I'm saying lunacy because it's an eclipsed moon tonight.)

18. Not much, they'll claim credit for his victory. Bye Hillary, nice to know you.
These guys aren't going away. They'll adapt to the new reality faster than you can say "Bye Hillary". They are politicans after all.

19. The DLC-Landos of the party
... are dismissed and told to go home.

Bye bye!

Don't bother stammering and telling us you had no other choice but to make your deal w/ the "empire."

Fuck off DLC.

20. It will give them a perfect opportunity
to repackage, reinvent, and reassert themselves by embracing Obama's campaign rhetoric. Obama is in many ways a "third way" Democrat, with his focus on a purple America. He gives the DLC perfect ideological cover for their agenda, and an opportunity to sell it with an updated PR campaign mimicing Obama's campaign oratory. If Obama wins the DLC will procalaim he won because he moved away from the traditional Democratic class warfare and oppositional politics by seeking new solutions from the vast center of American politics where Democrats and Republicans can find commonality. The DLC were the originators of that creed. Obama would give them a new lease on life.
