I think Hillary is a sweet and good person.
Also, I think she is very intelligent and is usually very good at covering up her emotions. Much better than most men, in my opinion. But I do not see her as conniving or evil as some people have betrayed her. I feel sympathy for what she has had to go thru in the last few weeks. I think she is a very good and honorable person.

However, because of her history and the times that we are now in, I do not think she can win the nomination or the Presidency if she were to win the nomination. This is not her fault. This does not reflect on any personal shortcomings of Hillary - unless it would be that she is married to Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton beget George W Bush. It was his shortcomings that permitted his impeachment and the success of the right-wing attack machine more than anyone else - not Hillary. And it was the success of the right-wing attack machine that permitted the "compassionate conservative" George W Bush to steal the election in 2000. And it was George W Bush that beget the present political environment that demands a wholesale political change. That is not Hillary's fault.

Barack Obama just happens to be the beneficiary of this political climate. Hillary should not be blamed. I like Hillary. But reality is reality. Our next President, unless there is a "miracle", will be Barack Obama. He will be a great President. The times are right for a leader of his stature and respect around the world. He is not just an orator. He understands how to communicate. He understands where we are as a nation. There is no one better to lead us at this time, in my opinion.

3. I agree.
When she first came to prominence with Bill Clinton's campaign - I was thrilled. It was an affirmation of everything I had seen improve for women in my life time.

I remember some people saying she just wanted to run the show, and I countered that I was so happy to see a woman's input being respected - after the battles I have had to endure in my life.

It is too bad that the meme of going negative helps in politics. It is too bad that she went that route, because I don't think it is her nature.

"Biographies" last night, on MSNBC?? Her biography was quite an eye opener for me. When it comes to campaigning, whether for herself or Bill, she's a PIT VIPER !! I suggest all of the Clinton supporters try to catch this show if they run it again!!

4. She is, certainly, a charming a person as I've seen. I was a few ft. away from
her at a rally over the weekend and she is extremely personable, engaging and, if I may add, very attractive. A definite head-turner, even if she wasn't who she was.

I think she's had a hard life and worked for everything she got, unlike some people.

Having a husband like Bill was, certainly, a rough road to hoe plus all the crap that the rethugs threw at her over the years - I know I couldn't have done it.

5. I think what you said has merit...
I like Hillary, and would definitely cast my vote for her if she won the nomination. However, I think in this particular election, given how difficult a time the GOP is having galvanizing their various factions around McCain, that a Hillary nomination would serve to do exactly the opposite of what now gives us a clear advantage. I think of Obama and Clinton, Hillary would most certainly stand a better chance of turning out Republican voters simply to vote AGAINST her, even though they can barely stomach their own candidate. I think Obama, on the other hand, may actually be able to convince some Republicans at or close to the center that a swing left would be best for the country. One can hope anyway.

I do think she's gotten an unfair hand to deal with, but that's part of the problem with being someone who is a "veteran" in the system. And I've never seen anything quite so rabid as Republican opposition to her. I mean, they REALLY hate her. It's strange to watch...I can't help but wonder where all this animosity stems from.

6. You called it just the way I see it, too.
She's a terrific person and a wonderful candidate. We have been fortunate to have such an incredibly talented field of Democratic candidates this election cycle. Now it's down to two people and unless something really untoward happens, Obama will be our next candidate. I will work for him and vote for him and encourage everyone I know (and some I don't know) to follow my example. I think a lot of the resistance to Hillary is due to the wariness of voters to go Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton. Obama will make a great President and his is the face and the voice I choose to represent the USA to the world.

10. I don't completely agree with your assessment of Obama
as president, but I do appreciate your critique of Hillary not being the right candidate for the times. I have a friend who has said the same. She really respects Hillary and was conflicted on who to vote for, but she feels like the country is needing someone like Obama right now.

11. Well Done, Kentuck!
I agree. I have absolutely no qualms about voting for either candidate come November. Today, I support Barack Obama for the nomination, because I like his foreign policy positions, and his economic priorities.

As Democrats, we are on the path to make history in November, no matter who is the nominee. Whatever history we decide to make, will be sweet (and long overdue).
