23. She should be wooing his supporters, instead of belittling them. |
|
As another DUer pointed out in another thread, "Right now, every time she refuses to treat him or his candidacy as "real" she insults and belittles millions of voters - many of them new voters - a lot like much of DU does here. She basically calls them stupid, ignorant, naive, gullible, etc. Well guess what, you can stay pissed and angry that someone you think doesn't deserve to be winning is wining, and you can keep INSULTING AND DEMEANING MILLIONS OF VOTERS and think that somehow that's going to get you more votes.... or you can start excepting the fact that you're not the frontrunner, you're in danger of losing, and that Obama is REAL and start WOOING his voters rather than TRASHING THEM." - http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=4704151&mesg_id=4704495">Political Heretic

67. Yeah, I'M the problem at DU |
|
Read the rest of the posts in this thread. And if you are so inclined, go search on my tiny handful of posts here over the last few weeks. Or, for that matter, all my posts over the past five or six years.
I'm sorry if you don't like hearing it, but a handful of people have turned this place into a giant teeming cesspool and I resent being blamed when you obviously have never bothered to read anything I've posted other than this one post, where I at long last called some people what they are.
Just for the record, I AM warm and friendly, and I DO have a cooperative and Democratic spirit, which I demonstrated almost daily here until this place turned into some bizarre, party-splitting freakshow. And if Obama is the Democratic nominee I'll be right there beside you fighting off the right-wing swiftboating attacks 24/7, and voting for him in November so we save what is left of this country. Is that special enough for you?

|
...the booing came from Obama partisans after she gave them an ideal opportunity to boo. Obama was shaking his head and crying foul on that one - it was a trigger point for those who don't like Hillary all that much to let loose on her. She gave them a good reason to.

29. It Was Only A Handful Booing, And More Were Clapping. |
|
Regardless of that, it still was a blown line, though I personally consider it to be one of the best I've ever heard. Overall, probably would've been better to not say it. But people are blowing it way out of proportion here. If you listen to it repeatedly on tv, you clearly hear more people clapping, albeit not with a ton of passion, and a handful of the audience booing, 3 or 4 of them really loudly. But it wasn't this full room boo some are trying to portray, and I definitely hear more individual claps than individual boos. I encourage anyone who recorded it to keep playing that part over and over, and if you do so objectively, you'll see what I mean.

Obama/Hillary trade barbs over plagiarismIt's very obvious that a majority of the crowd was not pleased with her response. She wouldn't have had to repeat "If you look" several times to overcome the boos if it were just a couple people making noise.

She was taking a risk and trying to create one of those defining moments that change momentum....it flopped for that audience. You could see on her face that her heart wasn't really in the remark...
No regular folks could get into that debate...it was all party insiders who had already chosen their sides...that is why the cheering was evenly split for each candidate.
Now how the xerox remark affects voters is yet unknown. They may react like the Obama voters and think it was a total blunder...but will that one remark change minds?
They may decide that it was rude to boo one of the candidates and soften toward Hillary...thinking her remark didn't deserve that kind of disrespect...there seems to be a bit of a history regarding this type of attitude...the voters let her get kicked around only so much before she gets a bump out of it.
Regarding the end of the debate: I am going to officially argue that you can not plagerize your spouse. After years of political conversations between the two of them ...I am sure that they don't even know who is repeating who...Bill's original lines could have been her idea...
and I agree with those who are arguing that plagerism is not being defined very well....ideas can not be plagerized....only specific phrases and text...
