CNN, John King and the fucking touch screen |
|
Does anyone else hate how they use that stupid touch screen?
OMG...it adds nothing to their coverage. They think it is some great tool. It is not "cool" like you think and is not some innovative technology.

1. Stuff it. It's very cool ... I studied the equations to learn how it works |
|
and appreciate the applications ... and their limitations.

I work in the media and having to do things a certain way because tech people - who will never be the end users - get off on having their applications replace our common sense and motor skills is ridiculous.

I don't know how much it adds to the discussion, but it's a pretty neat application.

That's how I knew Obama was going to be able to overtake her in Missouri, as he explained how the votes were going in Kansas City and St. Louis.
What is fucking stupid is that touch phone poll feely crap they used again last night... :argh:

6. Comcast here took MSNBC off the standard cable and put it on digital cable. I'd have to pay $1 more |

a month and I'm too cheap right now.

7. The touch screen is why I've been watching CNN's election coverage |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-22-08 12:57 PM by Araxen
After seeing Karl Rove drawing the state of VA(very, very poor drawing on very very small whiteboard) on Fox trying to show which counties Obama is winning and which Hillary was winning I laughed my ass off at how far Fox has fallen at covering the elections. They better get something in place for the GE.

17. Yeah, every time I look at their coverage it seems like amateur hour. |
|
They've been really pathetic lately. Every time my and my partner tune in to see what they have to say it's so substance-free that we wind up commenting on what the female anchors are wearing until we get bored and switch back to CNN. MSNBC is not much better. CNN has been by far the best this year, even though i don't always like some of their analysts.

I wish CNN had a detailed map like that on their website.

11. They did for the 2006 general elections |
|
I remember it because Iowa kept turning bluer and bluer as Chet Culver(D) beat Jim Nussle (R :puke:) ass in the Governor's race!
When the Western counties (which are traditionally conservative) started shading in blue for Culver we knew Nussle was toast!
Culver won by around 100,000 votes (which also helped the Democrats take control of the state house and several County Board of Supervisors seats too!)

13. Politico used to have something like that too |
|
In the earlier contests like Iowa and New Hampshire. But now they don't have it anymore.
I wonder if CNN will bring it back for the 2008 general election?

I don't hate it, but computer programmers need to understand that live broadcasters need to devote their motor skills to what's coming out of their mouths, not avoiding what will happen if their hand slips off the sweet spot of the touch screen.

The touch screen is nothing new, but that software rocks. John King's county analyses are most of the reason I watch CNN's election coverage.
