Do you notice the passive aggressive attack style? |
|
"Oh, she's come unhinged"
"Wow, she's really lost it"
"Hillary's flipped out"
"How low will she go"
Then they march Barack Obama out to pretend he's already the President and a victim of that shrill attacker.
Sound familiar? The tone of this stuff is unmistakably Rovian -- unmistakably Repuke.

Am in no way supporting sexist innuendo (and of course the obvious crap some feel free to spout) floating around, but opposers have used those kinds of words against anyone that they want to minimize. Instead of engaging on the issues, just accuse the opponent of being "over the top" or "out of touch with reality" and then play an out of context "Dean Scream" moment to sell you their characterization.
It's always been that way in politics and the world at large, but those particular phrases appear to be generalized put downs, we should really come down on the insidious code phrases.

It's a well-tested formula: zealous supporters plus can't-lose rhetorical tricks. All you need is a complicit press corps, and Bob's your uncle. And McCain's your president.

It turns out that Obama is nothing but a fraud. I started out supporting him, but his disingenuous, bullying campaign style eventually turned me against him. Now it's gotten to the point where I can't stand him. He's arrogant and yes, passive-aggressive. Hillary is clearly the better candidate and democrats are going to regret missing out on her expertise and extensive knowledge. Obama is nothing more than a slick, nasty campaigner. People will eventually catch on, but it may be too late.

The whole process however makes a total mockery of democracy. People are actively encouraged to switch off their brains and simply go on their emotions... mostly their baser emotions.

43. I started out thinking Obama was a nice guy, |
|
but using the RW attacks against Hillary as justification for his campaign of "hope and change" is just too much for me. I'm sure that he didn't come up with it all by himself, and it probably is the only way to win against Hillary. But I think it shows a lack of character and is incredibly disloyal to the democratic party.
What the Obama campaign is doing is beyond the pale. He has bad-mouthed and belittled our first successful two-term democratic president in many years for his own ambition.
I totally agree that people are switching off their brains. I never thought I'd see this happen within the democratic party. It's very disappointing.

their "campaign " to go viral.
You will notice the style is pretty similar they don't engage with most people who disagree with them unless it is to drive a thread off topic... see the discussion of the term hysterical above.
Obama is the right wing's hedge... and no matter how much people would like to believe that Obama is so good he is winning over even the right wing pundits... I'm afraid its all a con. A well constructed fantasy.
Hillary is a very good candidate. I don't agree with all her policies by any means but she has the potential to win. A good strategist would have seen that after Bush people were going to want a change and a woman candidate represented that. This woman also carried the promise to the return to some semblance of the halcyon days of Clinton I.
How can you defeat such a candidate? By selecting one that represents even greater change. A young candidate. A black candidate. With those choices you have partly negated the "time for a woman" voters. Those people are now torn.
And of course they get a lot of people to go online to constantly throw mud in a predefined subtle way. Hillary has lost state x, y or z.... Hillary is losing it.... Hillary is out of cash.... and so on. Drip... drip ... drip.
Obama is their hedge and his campaign is being run like a CIA people power revolution.
JMHO of course.

But I also believe that this Rovian tactic is enhanced by attacking two of Hill's best campaign assets: they are (l) Bill Clinton and (2) the Clintons great relationship with AA all over this country. Attack them on their greatest assets, just as they did on John Kerry, Al Gore, etc.
This should have been expected, but perhaps there is no way to effectively fight against it. Any ideas?
