5. Saying Kerry is best to handle problems of the country
Host says, You'd be a good Sec of State for Kerry.

I tuned in Fox, because at 5:00 Eastern is when I get Fox News Sunday, & I wanted to see the Lieberman interview.

And what do I find? Wes Clark.

I missed the 1st part, but Wes was terrific. When they were discussing Bush's failures, Host said are you blaming Bush for 9/11?

Clark saidm No, I'm blaming Al Queda, BUT, & then went on to explain how we are vulnerable by going to Iraq.

8. Faux Isn't Even Trying To Appear Superficially Neutral Anymore
The guy on Fox was clearly cheerleading openly for Bush. Clark first corrected him in saying that Richard Clarke was NOT a Clinton "aide" but was a career civil servant who also served under Bush. The host asked Clark if he was speaking on behalf of Kerry, as though such an admission would damage his credibility. Clark had no problem saying that 'yes' he was speaking for the Kerry campaign. Clark mentioned Harry Truman in that the buck should stop with the President, when the host tried to bring Clinton into this, mentioning that in nine months Bush did nothing to fight terrorism. When the host tried to get Clark to admit that we were better off eliminating Saddam and trying to bring democracy, Clark praised the military by over-achieving under difficult circumstances in Iraq but suggested that we were now over-extended in the world in trying to fight terrorism because of Iraq. He also said we will need more than just a military effort to fight terrorism but also diplomacy and the help of our traditional allies, something he said Kerry will be able to achieve where Bush fails. The host tried to get Clark to admit that Afghanistan was going well, but Clark pointed out that Bush had had the opportunity to catch Al Qaeda's leadership, for example at Tora Bora and flatly failed. The host tried to get Clark to admit that the recent events in cornering Al Qaeda in Pakistan were getting results. Clark said that Bush, by focusing on Iraq has given Al Qaeda time to adjust and now they are far more decentralized than before and will require a different strategy, suggesting that Bush continues to remain one step behind. Finally, the host tried to suggest Clark's bias in a parting shot, by suggesting that Clark was speaking up because he wants to be Secretary of State. Clark said that he was speaking up because he wants America to be safe. It was ugly for the Faux host, as Clark hit one slam dunk after another around him, as though the host were nailed to the floor.

Sounds like a normal Clark vs Faux encounter! Clark always wins these. You did a nice job on recounting it. :)

13. Faux reporter: 0

Clark: 5

Clark rattled all his chains and even made him have to fess up that Clark "sounds like the Secretary of State" in a Kerry Administration.
I'm still holding out for Veep - but if Kerry can promise me Clark that high up in the cabinet, I'll be OK.

Oh, did you hear? Edwards is reconsidering and maybe running for Senate again. I can't find the link, yet, but CNN reports that it's because of redistricting: Edwards thinks he might be able to win it again.

Edited to correct source. It's CNN, however, so take it with a grain of salt.

19. How would redistricting...
affect a senate seat?

Either way, I'd love to see Edwards around still whether in the senate or otherwise -- he's a great speaker, probably one of the best we've got. I frankly like both Edwards and Clark, but have recently been leaning more towards Clark for VP, because he does a good job in distancing Iraq from the War on Terror and has excellent foreign policy credentials.

I just saw the quote on another blog. It was from CNN - like I said in my edit - if it's from CNN, take it with a grain of salt. :)

16. Thanks for your report
I missed most of it, & with your report, it all falls into place.

You're right, in that the host was cheerleading for Bush. That's what Faux does...they have Dems on so they can say we're fair & balanced, & then they try to out talk the guests & make them look silly. Many guests are left sputtering, not getting their points made.

But Wes, sits calmy, & turns every question around, into a smackdown for Bush, & an endorsement for Kerry. He is so skillfull, that he leaves the host looking like a fool.

17. Reading your recap is almost as fine as seeing the blows fall. Thanks.
Maybe they'll replay this later (opposite Richard Clarke or something if they do).

I'd hate to expose my brain to too much crooked-liar radiation belching out of the mouth of Faux lackeys, hunting for the repeat. The Kerry campaign should keep video like this linked on their front page.

Nobody does it better than Clark. I have come to have the same pity on RW propagandists doing interviews with him that I previously reserved for Iraqi air defense radar operators.

21. Why is it that
I never find out about these things until it's too late?:argh:

This sounds like it was a really great one too, so of course I would have to miss it.:grr:

Does anybody know if it's going to show up on Ice's site? Otherwise, if anybody managed to get it on tape, I would love to get hold of it.

I never ever watch Faux, so there is no way that I would just happen to bump into something like that. If anybody knows if it will be replayed later, and when, please let me know.

22. I never watch it either
But Sunday nights there's no news to be found so I popped it on and came back to my computer. Just then I heard his name and jumped up. They were just saying he was the spokesman for the Kerry campaign on 9/11 matters. But it was just a bit from the longer interview and I missed THAT. I am so pissed. And now CBS has the goddamned basketball game on instead of 60 Minutes. Oh, I just heard 12 seconds to go.

25. I just LOVE it that Clark is clearly
a spokesman for the Kerry campaign.
I'm still thinking "shadow cabinet" or something... but Clark needs to be prominant no matter what: Bush and the media have turned this into the "foreign policy" election, so Clark, with his good looks and intelligence in this matter, needs to be out front A LOT!

24. Pass the Fuckitall
I missed another installment of Wes 101

Great recap and thanks so much.

There was a time that I would get nervous when Clark was scheduled to be on, but I gave it up. Wes Clark has lulled me into believing that he well always hit them out of park, because he always does.

Read page 120 of "Winning Modern Wars."
