"We are a nation at war. That seems to be forgotten."
Hillary Clinton Talks to The Brody File
By David Brody
February 24, 2008

On the Barack Obama Phenomenon

"I think that there is a certain phenomenon associated with this candidacy, and I am really struck by that because it is very much about him and his personality and his presentation. And that’s perfectly legitimate in politics, or any other walk of life, but I think it dangers or oversimplifies the complexity of the problems we face, the challenges of navigating our country through some difficult uncharted waters. We are a nation at war. That seems to be forgotten."

4. Yes, Hillary, a WAR you helped start. A war you have done nothing to stop.
She can't even run a campaign to win the nomination, but she thinks she can run a war?

She needs to stop believing her own press releases.

10. I suppose that is why her vote for the war is brought up by Obama at every debate, so we forget

Didn't she check the Wisconsin exit polls? Obama beats her in the "most qualified to be commander in chief" question. Man her advisers suck.

16. Really? So she buys the GWOT bullshit? When was the declaration?
The constitution is quite clear on this matter. To be 'at war' requires a formal declaration of war. Such a trivial thing, a mere formality, and yet we do not have such a declaration. We are not at war.

18. her journey to the dark side is officially complete
Now, obviously, the further removed we get from September 11th, I think the natural tendency is to let down our guard. Unfortunately, we cannot do that. We are a nation at war. We are the targets of enemies who have demonstrated they have no remorse about killing thousands of innocent civilians.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/12/20011203-5.html (-Tom Ridge, 12/2001)

We cannot wait for countries like France, China and Russia to see things our way because we are a nation at war.

MR. McCLELLAN: The President strongly disagrees. It was the right decision to go into Iraq and remove Saddam Hussein from power. And let me talk about why. Remember, September 11th changed the President's thinking. He talked about this in his remarks earlier today. We are a nation at war, engaged in a global war on terrorism.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/04/20060410-2.html (4/2006)

The procedures in the bill I am sending to Congress today reflect the reality that we are a nation at war, and that it's essential for us to use all reliable evidence to bring these people to justice.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/09/20060906-3.html (9/2006)

"The biggest issue facing this country is who best to protect you,'' Bush said. "We are a nation at war… 'The best way to face this enemy is to face them overseas so we do not have to face them at home.

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2006/10/bush_and_hastert_rally_the_gop.html (10/2006)

We are a nation at war," Bush said. "And I rely on our secretary of defense to provide me with the best possible advice and to help direct our nation's armed force as they engage the enemies of freedom around the world.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2006-12-18-gates-swearing-in_x.htm (12/2006)

You are with me all the way to the convention. Fight on, just like Ronald Reagan did in 1976. But there is an important difference from 1976: today... we are a nation at war.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/02/romneys_withdrawal_speech.html (Mitt Romney's concession speech)

It can't be Afghanistan; we conquered that country and saw a new government installed. It can't be Iraq; we invaded that country, overthrew the regime, and saw a new government installed. Those wars are over. Our only stated purpose for being in those countries today is to police them against internal strife until their own forces are strong enough to handle the chaos and nascent civil war.

20. There is no fucking war.
There is an illegal occupation of Iraq, following an illegal invasion. Numerous war crimes have been committed, but we are not at war. * would like us to believe we are war to bolster his claims of executive power during wartime.

a nation at war, when she showed such faulty judgment (repeated with her K/L vote) on the matter, and downright negligence in terms of preparing herself for the IWR vote. I trust Obama far more than her on war and foreign policy--and apparently, so do increasing numbers of other Democrats.
