Alright Hillary, that's it!
I'm sick of your constant attacks on Obama. He is a perfectly qualified and perfectly capable candidate. Certianly he is as qualified as you are madam.

He is inexperienced? Look who's talking! Do you think that you could argue with a straight face that you are the "experienced candidate" against John McCain? You have 7 years of governmental experience, as a US Senator from a state you had absolutely no previous connection to, he has over 25 years of experience. While you have been a more than decent senator, your resume is not long in that department. Hillary, being first lady is NOT experience in the way that you are trying to make it out to be. First ladies have no governing duties or responsiblities. While yes, you did things, more than most first ladies,(gave speeches, travelled, wrote a very complex bill that went nowhere, advised your husband), the fact of the matter is that first ladies don't face election, or reelection. They don't answer to anyone. They don't get security clearances. They don't vote on bills.

Obama has 4 years of US senate experience and 8 years as a state senator in a not insiginficant state. There he worked with others to pass important bills such as a bill to require police videotaping of confessions (over the original opposition of the police and the governor). In the US Senate, he has sponsored bills on such topics as ethics reform and open government (see www.usaspending.gov), and nuclear deproliferation. I would hardly call that "no experience." While he doesn't measure up to McCain in experience, he is not running becuase he is the master of Washington, he is running because Washington needs to change.

He isn't tough and can't take a punch? I'll give you credit, Republican attacks haven't demoralized you. However, you are still standing mostly because you don't stand for election as first lady and your senate terms have been won from a very blue state against clowns for opponents.

Obama is very tough, he's had to listen to you and your surrogates run your mostly negative campaign for over a year. From having his faith and patriotism questioned, to being falsely called anti-choice, to being dishonestly labelled as a coward for engaging in a legitimate IL legislative practice (voting present), to being deemed to be doing well in certain states because of his race ("Jesse Jackson won there too!"), to being tied to the criminality of a land developer who comes in contact with every politician in Chicago, to being tied to Saddam Hussein because of his middle name, to being called a plagiarizer, a cult leader, peddling false hopes, being substanceless (more on that later), a homophobe, a former drug dealer etc. he's faced a lot of fucking shit in this lowbrow campaign, and he's handled it well. This shit is part of all campaigns, I understand that and he does too. But don't turn around and say that he's gotten a free ride after flinging all of this at him.

He's substanceless . There is a one link response to this. www.barackobama.com/issues. There, all the substance and detail your heart desires. There's a reason he does not go state to state reciting all of this as if he were Strom Thurmond reading the phone book during a filibuster, IT'S BORING. People don't go to speeches to hear every little tiny detail. They go to hear about a candidate's vision, philosophy, as well as major policy stances(with major details). If you want the detail, go look it up.

Also, Hillary, you should know by now that you can't promise that your meticulously detailed plans will be passed by congress as is. Remmeber when you wrote up an entire bill hundreds of pages long in secret? Back in 1994? Guess what, Congress, whose job it is to pass bills (remember way back to civics) didn't like a lot of your details. So they gutted them, especially the ones about employer MANDATES (more on that in a second). But they couldn't gut it enough to get anyone to put their necks on the line against he health insurance lobby to vote for it. and this was a DEMOCRATIC congress with a DEMOCRATIC president, with greater majorities than we have now. If you go around promising to pass your health care plan as is, you will fail. Our government does not vest the president with the power to make law. In light of that it seems silly to go overboard on detail. For any bill, such as a health care plan, Congress will have the last word. This does not mean never talk about your position on mandates, for example. What it does mean is that a presidential race is not a race to see who has the most pages on their issues section.

Obama doesn't favor universal health care; and in fact bashes it. Hillary I saw the best movie last year. It's called SiCKO. You'll see a lot of things in it. Michael Moore goes to Cuba; he rides along with a travelling French Doctor, he even travels to a Norwegian prison (in the DVD extras). Know what you won't see in it? "Freeloaders" getting "free" health care by simply "forgetting" to buy health insurance. You will see a couple who had to move into their daughter's house becuase medical bills BANKRUPTED THEM. You will also see poor patients dumped out of cabs, in hopsital gowns, onto an LA street in front of a public hospital becuase they lacked insurance. You will also see many instances of insurance companies outright refusing to pay claims in order to save money, and then people dying as a result of not getting treatment.

The idea that a large portion of the 44 million uninsured are people trying to scam free health care from the taxpayer sounds more like it should come from a propaganda film narrated by the corpse of Ronald Reagan and sponsored by the CATO institute rather than a Democratic candidate for president. That is the implication when you say that we need to mandate that people buy insurance. That makes as much sense to me as saying we can eliminate world hunger by mandating that everyone buy enough food to live on, or that we can solve the Palestinian/Israeli crisis by mandating that everyone sit in a circle and sing Kumbya.

Frankly I don't think either of your or Sen. Obama's plans are that great. But for the love of Jebus don't say Obama does not favor universal health care because he doesn't have mandates. You say you will subsidize people who can't afford premiums, and you will cover uninsurable people in a government plan (I'd hate to have to manage that thing!). If you do that, why the hell do you need something that will be hideously unpopular such as mandates? You will cover everyone who wants insurance, which is pretty much 99.99% of everyone. Obama does the same thing as you except he's not going to twist the arms of the .01% of wackos out there who think insurance is a sin or something.

Bottom line is, if everyone who wants insurance can get it, it is as universal as it is going to get absent a single payer system. Your mandate will have to leave out some people, even with subsidies. It will not acheive absolute 100% compliance. It hasn't in MA. Stop with the dishonesty. You both want to greatly increase access to health insurance and that in itself we can agree is a good thing.

He only offers speeches, I offer solutions. This one is my favorite. Remembering back to civics 101, that part about how presidents do not make the law, your idea that inspiration is a bad thing, and that rattling off details to your bored audience is a good thing, will bite you in the ass if you somehow manage to come back and win this thing. For your "solutions" to become law, they must be passed by Congress. In order to for congress to pass them, they need to be motivated, "inspired" if you will, to do so. You should have learned that from your last failure to inspire Congress to pass your legislation. If Congress can't stand listening to you becuase you insist on speaking as if you were listening to van halen with headphones on, or insist on going on a tirade because things aren't going your way, they won't make your "solutions" law. Also, they have the audacity to want to have a hand in producing the "solutions". They are legislators, that is what they do.

Obama understands the role of legislators much better than you do. That is why he speaks of working with others and why he highly values inspiration and a culture of respect for those who disagree. We cannot pass legislation without republican help unless we have 218 lockstep Dem house members and 60 lockstep dem senators. If we don't have that, guess what, we have to be nice to republicans! The horror! I know some of us would rather complain, stamp our feet and then cash in at the next election, but I think people are sick of a government that looks for political advantage over solving our problems. Obama would rather reach out to others to get something passed that does some fucking good rather than have another congress go by not accomplishing squat. And he realizes that Congress will write the law that gets enacted. He gets to veto if it is too unacceptable, but they ultimatley put the language in.

I don't know what change he's talking about!!!!! Ill end my rant with simplified bullet points as to WTF Obama is talking about when he wants change.

1. Change the discourse of government: he wants us to strive to "disagree without being disagreeable" rather than spending our time bashing each other while people's lives get worse. A culture of respect is more likely to acomplish something than a culture of disrespect.

2. Change the purpose of having power: right now the purpose of being in power seems to be to keep power. That's how we got into Iraq. That's why Newt Gingrich and the repubs did everything they could to kill the 94 health care bill. That's why I think we haven't done squat to end this war. Obama says "we should stop thinking so much about how we are going to win the next election and start thinking about why we should"; and "we don't just need to get out of Iraq; we need to change the mindset that got us into Iraq." Obama wants to make having power about using it to accomplish things, rather than using it to score political points. that sort of purpose leads naturally to both sides working together.

3. Change the power structure in government and the Democratic party: Obama's big theme on this front is the idea of an open and accountable government. See again www.usaspending.gov for an example. Government should be accesssible to the people and the people should have much greater participation in government and politics. Obama is about a decentralized, supporter-driven, bottom up, 50 state campaign, as opposed to Hillary's big state, centralized, consultant driven, top-down campaign.

4. Fundamental change in foreign policy: He wants to have a foreign policy that understands that it's hard to demonize people you are regularly talking to. For example, when the US embargoes Cuba, it is very easy for Castro to demonize the US, becuase no one sees anything different and Castro never has to face a US leader in person. By showing we are willing to talk, to even our enemies, we at least have the hope that concerns will be aired on both sides and people can work out something that is acceptable to all parties. See the movie "13 Days." It's about the Cuban Missile crisis from JFK's perspective. There are two characters you should pay attention to. One is John F. Kennedy and the other is Gen. Curtis LeMay. See which one sounds more like Obama's vision of foreign policy and which one sounds more like our current vision of foreign policy. See which one wins out in the end. We need to repair our image in the world, and Obama's the guy to do it.

It's quite obvious you don't have the energy to investigate the positions of the candidates. It is even more obvious that you are nothing more than a paid propagandist for Hillary.

Go back into your cave and go to sleep.

6. It's Politics! Wake Up!
Exactly. Politics is a struggle for power. Why are people so surprised and outraged to witness tension in a struggle for power? You should be more concerend if you don't see because no struggle is taking place! This is not playgroup between 3yo, this is US politics to decide the next president of a country of 300 million people, a superpower of the world! Why is anyone surprised to see "attacks" as people refer to them as? Criticism, either constructive or unfair, is fair game in politics.

I think not. I really don't give a flying fuck if DUers attack one another, especially during primary season.

I care a great deal about Democratic candidates attacking other Democratic candidates.

Hillary has -- by almost any objective measures-- led in that department since Iowa. She is handing McCain and his friends dozens of sound bites to use in the general.

Obama is attacking Hillary's policies on NAFTA and health care. That is fair game, as are her attacks on his positions. But she is also attacking him personally, has been for some time, and literally mocked him today.

I hope she stops soon, or we will all be crying come November.

63. That was an excellent Rant......and so I say,
you should rant much more often.

As for Hillary, I see her so differently than I saw her a few months ago, that it ain't even funny. What is sad, is that I cringe now when I see her on the TeeVee now...which shouldn't be.

I was just watching Meet the Press, and the pundits there showed her and Bill Clinton and John Edwards and the similarities of her supposed to have been "home run out of the ballpark" debate ending......after her earlier insistence in the debate that "words should be your own". She doesn't realize that people see through what she is doing. I'm not sure why she doesn't see it.....cause it is evident to those with an open enough mind to see it.

What did it for me for good was her mocking Obama and his supporters today. She actually mocked 10,000,000 Democratic voters. That and comparing Obama to Bush yesterday and making the assinine statement that "enough speeches and Rallies" in her Sybil worse character has me writing her off forever.

She has underestimated voters, i.e., the American people more than she will ever realize. She will find out the painful way that too many of us are paying attention. This is no longer the 1990s.....and so, it will go.

I believe that she thought this election would be a cakewalk for her. For some reason she thinks it is owed to her like the POTUS is some kind of entitlement. I am very disappointed in her. But remember, she has been campaigning for president ever since she became a senator. Pandering with the war, and the war on terror. It is really hard to believe her anymore. Her campaign is a muck. One day she respects Obama, and the next day she is shouting "Shame on You' Obama". I am not sure that is the kind of president I want.

Thanks for taking the time to set out a clear, objective rebuttal to false claims.

I'm pretty new here, but two kinds of people really bug me (not enough to stop coming!):

a) those who can't be bothered to read long posts, but instead of just ignoring them and going on to something shorter, feel the need to tell you they can't be bothered

b) those who confuse the candidate and the supporters.

Support the candidate you want to support, but don't decide to reject a candidate on the basis of his/her supporters. Just because it is the Democratic PARTY doesn't mean you have to like everyone in it!!

73. So Hillary should not defend herself against negative attacks from the Obama campaign?
Like for example this flier the Obama campaign is using in Ohio:

Do you think that maybe if Hillary ignores these negative attacks they will disappear all by themselves?

That approach worked real well for John Kerry when he was attacked by the Swiftboat Liars back in 2004 ... :eyes:

I am so glad I've been too busy to read this board lately. Yesterday or the day before I had the displeasure of reading many posts (most by the same person) defending Hillary's despicable tactics, specifically her bizarre "shame on you" rant. I can only hope those are right wing operatives who infiltrated this board to try to get her to be the nominee.

How, after her use of typical right wing smear/attack tactics, anyone can still support her is beyond me. And if they think anyone who uses those tactics will really bring change to our government they are delusional.

One other thing... she accuses Obama to be running a campaign about words. She knows damn well that's a ridiculous thing to say. But if she doesn't like words she can feel free to shut up and run her campaign silently and see how well that works for her. Although actually, in her case and in this time of desperation it might actually raise her standing. Tip for Hillary... you need to use words to give campaign speeches.

109. Oh Boo Hoo for Poor Obama
oh gee we have been mailing our fliers about Hillary and have been called on it. Our Rocky Horror road show has been called out...

Do we need something to be offended about? lets all look over here now...PLEASE.

Didn't Hillary get the memo about me being treated with kid gloves?

You know the republicans have done so much falsehood and mud slinging that now we all have to live in happy land so much so that it is even becoming the land of untruths. I have no problem being negative or attacking when it is part of the reason I think the candidate is the wrong choice. His rally is all show, He has become smug and smart ass after his wins. His resume and record has been embellished. He is green and not ready. His words in the debates have given me concern how he would handle his foreign relations. These are all areas that need to be looked at and attacked if they do not fit. Yep even negative stuff! No more free passes!

I did read and article just now about this and basically it said that why should he be ashamed of the pic in the first place, second all the Clinton's have pictures in native clothes as does Bush, third the source was really really questionable and even if true should not have the media attention that Obama camp is trying to make out of it. They feel this is just another media hype bias for the Obama camp where they can take shots at Clinton and side with Obama to put her in a bad light. That it really is a answer to the fliers and the look at his celestial rally campaign. Also she is getting her point across that he sounds like the old Republicans with his health care plan and it is not universal coverage. Now add worry as to ability in foreign relations and is desperate as is the media for a refocus off Obama and a refocus on a negative for Clinton. same oh, same oh!

Well we are tired of Hillary not telling truth for the sake of "unity".

Hey 47% of the delegates are still in play and if you check it state by state you will see it will be Hillary that comes out on top. I can see why you still want the kid gloves treatment on Obamas celestial rocky horror traveling road show so he can grow his cult and make more O-bots.

110. For you it was "it" from the beginning. Always shrouding your attacks as defensive.
Talking about O's ways and means is hardly an attack. You attribute a viciousness that is not there except in your rants. Obama needs to be led as much a Hillary by progressive voters. Healthcare leaves the profiteers in place and the greedy ins co lobbyists etc. and the same with modified foreign policies...
"...THE EMPIRE is on the march “…A few days ago came the news – ignored or buried by almost every venue of that non-stop multi-platform media echo chamber – that the United States has made a very significant, and very permanent, addition its empire of bases: one that American officials freely admit will allow them to project "full spectrum" military dominance over 27 sovereign nations. And of course, what is most noteworthy about the development, reported in full in the Pentagon's own Stars and Stripes newspaper, is that this astonishing declaration of imperial aggression and hubris is regarded as something completely normal – indeed laudatory.

Stars and Stripes – an often excellent paper, reporting genuine news that the geek-gawking non-entities in the corporate media ignore – lays it all out, plain and simple:

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait — U.S. Army Central is establishing a permanent platform for “full spectrum operations” in 27 countries around southwest Asia and the Middle East, its commander says.

Lt. Gen. James J. Lovelace said the Army has diverse capabilities here now but plans to reach a complete level of operational effectiveness by July. The restructuring, which offers more flexibility for offensive, defensive and stability operations, is a major piece of transformation worldwide, said Lovelace.

“It’s the first Army command to do this,” said Lovelace, who also heads the Coalition Forces Land Component. “Now, we’re not only operational but the Army has committed other assets…They regionally focus on this area. That was not always the case,” said Lovelace, who took command in mid-December. “These commands now have a permanent responsibility to this theater. They’ll have a permanent presence here. The personnel will change; the commands will remain."
"...
Regardless of who is elected, in the coming year U.S. combat forces in Iraq will undoubtedly continue to contract to a fewer number of combat brigades and special operations forces focused on counter-terrorism and the mission of continuing to train and mentor the Iraqi Army and police forces. Much of the "war" that is already being fought is being supported from Kuwait and other locations, and the ongoing shifts seem to point to an intent to increasingly pull additional functions and people out of harm's way.

Of course they will not be out of harm's way at all, because a permanent American military presence in the region brings with it its own dangers and provocations. But most important what it brings for the next president is a fait accompli: a pause that facilitates a drawdown that begins to look a lot like a continuation of the same military and strategic policy, even at a time when there is broad questioning as to whether this is the most effective way to fight "terrorism."

Arkin is of course being over-polite in his conclusion: it has long been clear that the Bush Administration's policies – repeatedly ratified by the bipartisan foreign policy establishment – have nothing to do with fighting "terrorism," effectively or otherwise. It is a demonstrable fact – attested to by the Administration's own intelligence services – that these policies are actually exacerbating, empowering and emboldening terrorism all over the world. It is also obvious – albeit far less openly acknowledged – that these policies are themselves a form of terrorism: state terrorism, on a massive scale, which has already killed at least a million people in Iraq alone.

But Arkin is right on the money in noting that these developments – which have drawn not a peep of protest or the slightest questioning from the great "progressives" seeking the Democratic nomination (much less the bilious bagman cruising to the GOP nod) – are indeed "a continuation of the same military and strategic policy" that is driving the imperial war-state on to more "full spectrum operations" all over the world, for decades to come. And much as I might wish it to be otherwise, I have seen nothing to make me believe that any of the chicken-chompers bound for the White House will make any actual, substantial changes in this policy, much less begin the task of rolling back the empire.

But hey, did you see how Hillary waggled those feathers in her mouth when Obama spit that beak out at her? Then Hillary's campaign manager said… and then the polls showed… and then McCain told a reporter that… and then the Oscars… March Madness, baby!"

More frivolous smear posting...directed at the wrong people ...to make your candidate seem more palatable. Yawn...why bother writing it down?

she couldn't have expressed the outrage she's had for Obama in recent days for the Bush Administration at any point over the past 8 years.
