Can we have some sanity here? Please?
I saw the Obama photo a long time ago. I have no problem with it. Why would anyone? And why on earth is anyone here allowing whatever is posted on Drudge have any bearing whatsoever on this site?

Please people get a grip.

1. It's the Obama outrage du jour by the whiners. The bitch and moan about everything.
Unless you bow down, you are sacrilegious and evil.

Let's not give Drudge that divisive power.

7. Thank you. I agree. Everyone needs to calm down. There is no proof that Hillary Clinton
did anything wrong. There is proof, however, that Matt Drudge would love nothing more than to foment the sort of outrage seen on this site. He wants a divided Dem party.

16. Tennessee Gal, I applaud and appreciate your call to civility. I'm just outraged about the
crap being flung at Hillary - every day it's something - and the chorus of Obama supporters call for her head. This photo - which she didn't even have anything to do with, is just the latest. And what's WRONG with the photo???

I'm not even a Hillary supporter. But I do respect her, and hate the way she's being treated.

4. What disingenuous, low balling crapola. Get a grip, indeed.
Here is the latest from the Washington Post. Note both the explanation of the harm (which you and your cohorts are already well aware of) and the failure to deny:

"The picture, taken of Obama while he was in Kenya in 2006 on a Senate trip to Africa, shows him in Somali garb, and Obama aides suggested the Clinton campaign circulated it to call attention to Obama's African ancestry and give credence to persistent and false allegations circulating online that he is a Muslim. Obama is a Christian who attends a United Church of Christ congregation in Chicago.

Clinton campaign officials did not deny sending Drudge the picture. Instead, in a statement, campaign manager Maggie Williams said "if Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely."
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/02/25/obama_slams_clinton_camp_over_1.html?hpid=topnews

This is what you are reduced to, and then you shrug your shoulders and say Obama supporters should "get a grip."

Well, get your own grip, because soon you're through.

Whoever sent something to Drudge is attempting to divide us. I amazed that people cannot see it for what it is. It certainly is not beneficial to the Clinton campaign and they are smart enough to realize that. I believe the right wing is behind it.

Today, the people who want to believe Drudge is right will believe it. It fits their agenda to cast Hillary as Beelzebub's bride.

No sense in arguing with fools today. Let them throw their hissy fit, and they'll get over it and move on to the next "huge" anti-Clinton smear.

I am just having a hard time understanding why anyone at DU would allow a post on Drudge to be a source for attacking any Democratic candidate.

I fight smears from the right wing against Obama, even though I did not vote for him in the primary.

I have spent years and years fighting the right wing smears against the Clintons on the net. I never thought I would have to fight FOR the Clintons here.

I am truly sad.

47. There are good reasons to discuss how the photo is problematic.
First and foremost, Drudge has a wide audience among the thought-free brains of some on the right.

There's also the issue of whether the Clinton campaign was involved in its placement on Drudge's radar, thus making it a dirty trick. That's worth discussing in the same way that last week's Clinton claim that the Obama campaign flyer deliberately used a retracted quote against Clinton. Dirty tricks do happen in politics and being aware of them will help those undecided form an opinion.
