Clinton's 'school marm' mode is not going to work
Clinton is now trying the school marm style to make people think treat Obama is like a small boy. Scolding him is not going to work!
How many personalities are we going to see from Mrs Clinton before this race ends?

2. I just received an email from her
asking for money. I un subscribed I don't want anything to do with her at all. I try to say informed, but this is just nasty on her part.
She has no chance of winning the nom. and even if she did, she could not handle going up against McCain.
So we lose and have nothing
thanks Marm

8. I actually thought her overly condescending tirade at her RI rally was worse.
You know, the "heavens opening up" one. Man, that looked sooooo un-Presidential IMHO, like some of Bush's worst snarks.

:kick:

You only demean yourself with it.

9. if she doesn't want the criticizm, she shouldn't wear the mask-
"Shame ON YOU"....

Sorry, there is nothing sexist about calling her out on the role she chose to play- Would you rather "Headmistress"?
She is playing the part. Others are letting her set the tone.

I really don't like the tenor of this primary- but she can't avoid being called what she is pretending to be.

this stupid primary cannot be over soon enough for me.

peace~

12. If you'll read post #5 above, you'll learn that you can make the same point
without invoking gender stereotypes. Those stereotypes are what make it sexist.

22. as a woman myself I don't feel that
being called a "school marm" is a sexist 'stereotype'. But that is only my reaction to the name.

For one thing, many MANY people owe their educations to "School Marms". It isn't a 'slur'-

Maybe angry 'authority figure' is more neutral, but the reality that we ARE different- (male/female) shouldn't have to be avoided should it? I am a 'mother'- do I have to be simply a "parent"?

I agree there ARE words which are used for their effectiveness at belittling and diminishing a person. I really can't see 'school marm' as one of them.

I'm sorry if it seemed like I was supporting a slur-

Her demeanor in the role of angry "authority figure" - (unlike what she demonstrated at the debate) was demeaning, condescending and inappropriate in my opinion.

peace~

19. Invoking the gender stereotype is what makes it sexist, regardless of the target.

as she goes after him.

I bet he'd be a good poker player.

Big Dog's and Little Chimp's are painfully obvious. It took me a while to catch Hillary's but I finally did. I still haven't figured out Obama's tells yet.

Blushes so hard you can see it through his makeup. He also slightly twitches his left eye.

21. Many people despise middle aged women who speak up. They want us to
either be invisible or knit quietly in the corner, smiling sweetly

When I worked as a librarian I would often get a group of hell raisers in the library at night who came to "study" or more likely talk, goof off, flirt, hang on the internet for sports scores, porn,My Space, etc.

The problem was OTHER PEOPLE came to the library for a refuge to read, really study, etc.

It was my unpleasant task to have to keep the loud ones quiet so the quiet ones could work.

Every time I had to pull a "Hillary or "Eat Your Pea's" type admonition I would get all kinds of vile looks, comments, scorn and the like and they would go right back to doing what they were doing - except louder.

That's why I'm not a librarian anymore.

Bottom line - having to take a hard line makes you real unpopular - especially with the youngun's.
