Obama Rising In Texas Poll!

Texas Democratic Presidential Primary

Texas: Clinton 46% Obama 45%

Monday, February 25, 2008

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Texas finds Senator Hillary Clinton clinging to a one-point lead over Senator Barack Obama. With just over a week to go, it’s Clinton 46% Obama 45%. Nine percent (9%) of voters remain undecided and another 14% say it’s possible they could still change their mind.

Last week, Clinton led Obama by three percentage points. The week before, she had a sixteen-point advantage.

Although Clinton has held on to a very small lead in Texas polling, Rasmussen Markets shows that Obama is favored to win (current prices: Obama 67.0% Clinton 36.7%).

Clinton now has a five point advantage among women but trails by seven among men. Both those figures are down from the previous survey. Fifty-seven percent (57%) of the sample for this poll are women. That’s up from 52% in the earlier survey, largely because more women expressed a higher likelihood of voting.

Clinton leads among voters 50 and older (51% of the sample). She does especially well among those who are over 65 while Obama carries the day with voters under 50.

Twenty-nine percent (29%) say they have already voted and Obama leads handily among this group.

19. Yep, sort of the opposite of CA in that regard, where 1/3 of the voters
had already cast absentee ballots before Obama's big SC win.

Hillary should be very worried with even a 9% lead as generally (NH excepted) Obama closes that gap and more in the final days.

Not that even a squeaker win by her is going to make any difference in who's nominated eventually. Wins in TX or OH for Obama are important, however, in ending the primary season early so we can get on to kicking McCain's butt full-time.

I might just one day fork some money down to get those tabs... I have no idea why they aren't free.

8. Obama has too much momentum in Texas
If I were Hillary, I'd focus all my efforts over the next few weeks on solidifying Ohio for herself. Go visit counties like Trumbull, Lake, Greene, Montgomery and try to expand your leads there.

Wasting her time in Texas is not a good idea. It will go to Obama.

12. Hmmm. I'd say the people like what they're seeing and are making
their own choices. 11 primary wins in a row and counting?

13. yet another excuse from the Clinton camp
she had every possible advantage including the media saying she was inevitable up until she lost Iowa. She's run a terrible campaign, and he's run a good one. That's the bottom line.

15. Take a look at the MARGIN OF ERROR....
every poll has one... that's the number of points the actual result of the poll varies from the results they give, if there were (in a perfect universe) no sampling error, no measurement error, no computational error.

There hasn't been much change, overall, across polls. Look at pollster.com.

Unless the MOE is 10 or 12.
