Desperate
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 02:26 PM by berni_mccoy

Her outraged was completely staged. She's known about these mailers since early February. If she didn't know, then it just goes to prove her campaign is a complete failure. How could you not know about such a flier for nearly a MONTH and expect to be a serious contender?

Here is an article about the flier from early Feb: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/harry_louise_again.html

4. But but but... she SAID that she had just been handed this flier!

and from the way she was speaking, backed by the bobble head doll behind her, you'd think she was addressing supporters that had JUST handed her the flier... and that she was angry about it in the heat of the moment.

Except, of course, it wasn't a campaign event, there weren't any supporters, only news crews, and her outrage was... well, it wasn't spontaneous.

I think the Oscar committees closed the nominations a little too early this year.

7. Reminds of Bill's NV fable about the Culinary Union members
You know, how he supposedly overheard them being threatened with shift changes if they didn't caucus for Obama. Because I'm sure union bosses would threaten workers within earshot of a former President. And that he could overhear them in a noisy casino, surrounded my a throng of admirers and Secret Service. :eyes:

If people are dumb enough to fall for these contrived anecdotes, America is even worse off than I thought.

after they had already been debunked.

8. If you read the factcheck article, it wasn't 'debunked'
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 03:14 PM by berni_mccoy
At most, it was called 'stretching', but that the facts in the fliers were accurate as noted in the article. It left out some points about Clinton's plan, but it's not the job of an Obama flier to defend Clinton's plan.

What was called inaccurate was the Clinton campaign calling it "Hairy & Louise". Now that's desperate! And the point of the OP was to call out Clinton's false outrage. She's clearly desperate if she is crying about this.

10. Your right, that was a poor choice of words. She was screaming "SHAME ON YOU BARACK OBAMA."
..in a desperate attempt to get media attention. It worked, but I don't think in the way she intended. Every report I've seen on this says she sounds like she's acting and/or making it up.

14. only problem was they weren't debunked
Hillary has been a NAFTA supporter and her Health Insurance plan does call for garnishing wages.

15. She hasn't said she would garnish wages
so that's wrong.

And the part of Obama's flyer that's a LIE is that he opposes NAFTA.

19. actually there was a direct quote from Hillary where she said she would go after peoples' wages
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 04:05 PM by JackORoses
Going after peoples' wages is the very definition of garnishing.

Obama does oppose NAFTA. It is a flawed agreement which did not have the proper environmental or worker rights stipulations.

He has supported the Peru Free Trade Agreement because it does contain these stipulations.

Obama does not want to repeal NAFTA, but instead amend it to protect American jobs, provide Environmental regulations, and assure Fair labor practices in foreign countries.

Obama also supports legislation to take tax breaks away from outsourcers and give them to in-country businesses.

Hillary only recently decided that NAFTA was a bad idea, and her solution is to set up a Blue Ribbon Committee to analyze it for her.

11. So the Clinton health care plan does not force you to buy private insurance?
Good to know.

12. I don't know where you are getting that. It *does* enforce mandatory health insurance.
Everyone must buy health insurance under her plan. Period.

This is a boon to the health insurance companies.

13. Then what is she complaining about? Seems the flyer is accurate.
(my post was rhetorical)

Considering this is current day GD politics, the following comment is off topic. But I think that mandating that people, who otherwise don't have insurance (employer, Medicare, etc.), purchase private insurance will be a political train wreck when it is implemented.

The only viable way to get universal coverage is single payer along the lines of the Medicare model.
